This week we focused on movement. We played lots of knee rugby, we did activities like capture the tail and grip fighting to improve the way we move within our standing stance in freestyle. Our intermediate classes with were a variety of techniques all starting from the collar tie and we worked on a variety of different groundwork techniques in Coach Travis’ classes. Thursday Coach Ben and I attended the networking event and meeting. The Walker Activity Dome is fast becoming the place for combat sports as they have a wide variety of combat sport events on Saturday nights in addition to being our wrestling club’s home. The week culminated in our leaving do for Coach Travis. It was a great night and thanks to everyone who came out and made it such s great night. It has been a great honor getting to be your coach over the past two years and I’m so excited to see how Coach Ben moves the club forward. Get in this week to support him as he transitions into this new role.

A little over two years ago, we started with a vision, a handful of wrestlers, and a belief that we could build something special.

Since then, this club has grown into more than just a place to train — it’s become a family. We’ve seen first competitions, hard-fought wins, tough losses, packed training sessions, away trips, and moments that will stay with us forever. Watching this group grow in confidence, resilience, and unity has been one of the proudest journeys of my life.

Now, it’s time for the next chapter.

I’ll be moving to Brazil and look to open another wrestling club for our team — expanding what we’ve built and creating new opportunities internationally. This isn’t goodbye to what we’ve created here. It’s growth.

Our current club is staying exactly where it belongs — strong, active, and continuing to thrive. I’m incredibly proud to say it will be led by Ben Fitzgerald, who understands our culture, our standards, and our vision. The values we’ve built over the last two years don’t change. The mission doesn’t change. The work doesn’t stop.

We started with belief.
We built with consistency.
And now we expand with confidence.

Thank you to every wrestler, parent, and supporter who’s been part of this journey so far. This is just the beginning.

I’ll be leaving March 10th, with my last day coaching on March 7th and a leaving do that evening (contact me for details). Get in this week so that I can see you before I go.

This past week started another new cycle. We used games and activities like medicine ball catch to improve our stance stamina. showed our intermediate classes techniques from the 2 on 1. This coming week will be about motion so get in if you would like to learn and work on scrambling. Hope to see you soon

We covered back arches in this half term break week. covered techniques from the collar tie in addition to his conditioning class. .sharip.kgz taught GR techniques. On top of all that two of our wrestlers got married! So what a great week. Onto a new week starting a fresh new cycle so get in.
