🦖⚽️ WHICKHAM U7 RAPTORS BEGIN THEIR LEAGUE JOURNEY! ⚽️🦖

Today marked a very special moment for our new Whickham Fellside U7 Raptors as they played their first-ever league match together — and only their second competitive game as a team! 💛💚

The young Raptors displayed a fantastic attitude from the first whistle to the last. They worked incredibly hard, supported one another and never stopped trying — everything we want to see from our young players. 💪👏

Every member of the team deserves enormous credit for the way they approached their first league game. We couldn’t be prouder of their effort, teamwork and enthusiasm!

The first chapter of their league journey has now been written, with many more exciting football adventures still to come. 🦖⚽️

Our new Whickham Fellside U7 Blacks played their first-ever league match this morning—and what a fantastic milestone it was for the team!

We are incredibly proud of all the hard work the players have put in throughout pre-season. It is brilliant to see every child developing, growing in confidence and improving week after week.

This is what grassroots football is all about: making new friends, learning new skills, creating a positive team environment and, most importantly, enjoying the game! 💛💚

⚽ School's Back... Football's Back! ⚽

Now that the children are back at school and routines are returning, why not kick-start their football journey with Whickham Fellside FC?

We're welcoming boys and girls in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to join our Development and Wildcats sessions every Monday evening.

Whether they're completely new to football or already love kicking a ball around, our sessions are a fantastic way to learn new skills, make friends and have fun, with a clear pathway to a team at the end.

We are delighted to share a significant milestone in our club’s history. Following recent updates with The Football Association (FA), we have officially updated our name to Whickham Fellside Football Club (dropping "Youth" from our official name).

This change reflects how far our club has grown and where we are heading. Here is why we have taken this step:

A Complete Player Pathway: Over the years, we have evolved beyond our youth roots to build a comprehensive player pathway for all ages and abilities—from grassroots introduction all the way to adult football.

Established Senior Presence: We are incredibly proud of our thriving senior section, which now features 4 competitive adult teams (2 Men’s and 2 Women’s/Ladies’ teams). Dropping "Youth" ensures our name accurately represents every player wearing our crest, from our youngest toddlers to our senior squads.

Modernisation & Identity: Unifying under Whickham Fellside Football Club creates a modern, cohesive identity for our whole community, making it clearer to prospective players, sponsors, and opposition clubs that we offer a full footballing journey under one roof.

One Club Ethos: Whether you are playing, coaching, or supporting a junior or senior team, we are all part of one unified club family.

What does this mean for you?
Operationally, everything continues as normal! Our team colours, community ethos, and dedication to providing safe, enjoyable, and inclusive football remain unchanged. You will simply start to see our updated name across official FA platforms, league registries, and club communications moving forward.

Thank you to all our volunteers, coaches, players, and families whose hard work has made this growth possible. Here’s to the next exciting chapter for Whickham Fellside Football Club!

Whickham Fellside Football Club is proud to be supporting today’s Dunston Fair at Dunston Park with our giant inflatable football dartboard!

Come along, test your football skills and see if you can hit the bullseye. It’s great fun for children and adults alike! 🟢🟡

♻️⚽ Old kits, new opportunities! 💛💚🇿🇲

We’re proud to see Whickham Fellside YFC’s donated football kits given a new life through Project Luangwa—supporting boys, girls and schools across Zambia’s Mambwe District.

Football strips and jerseys reached 25 schools, with track tops also donated to pupils at Chiwawatala School. 🌍

♻️⚽ FROM WHICKHAM FELLSIDE TO ZAMBIA! 🇿🇲💛💚

Whickham Fellside Youth Football Club is incredibly proud to support Project Luangwa by giving our old and unused football kits a new lease of life in Zambia.

During Project Luangwa’s latest visit, donated football kits were distributed to 25 schools from across the Mambwe District. Some teams travelled considerable distances to attend the handover and proudly received football strips and jerseys that will help more boys and girls enjoy the game we all love.

An assortment of donated track tops was also presented to Evans Graph, the inspirational head teacher at Chiwawatala School. Evans will distribute them to deserving pupils who will benefit most from the donation.

Crispin Mason-jones, who helped collect and arrange the shipment of the kits, shared this wonderful update:

“Football in the district is going from strength to strength for both boys and girls, and the kits you have donated over the years have been a major factor in that.”

It is fantastic to see kits and sportswear that are no longer required by our teams being recycled and put to such valuable use. Instead of being stored away or discarded, they are helping schools, supporting grassroots football and creating opportunities for young people thousands of miles away.

A huge thank you to Crispin, Project Luangwa, Evans Graph and everyone involved in collecting, transporting and distributing the donations. We are delighted that Whickham Fellside YFC has been able to play a small part in such a worthwhile project.

Sadly, NPAC—the charity that previously shipped the kits—has now closed. We sincerely hope another safe and sustainable way can be found to continue sending future donations to Zambia.

Is your child keen to learn how to play football, develop new skills and make new friends?

Whickham Fellside Youth Football Club’s Development Group and Wildcats sessions return on:

📍 Watergate Park, Gateshead

❄️ WINTER TRAINING VENUE

From Monday 21st September 2026, the sessions will move to our winter training venue at Blaydon Rugby Club. Training will continue there every Monday until Monday 29th March 2027.

Our fun, friendly and inclusive sessions provide the perfect introduction to grassroots football for young boys and girls. No previous playing experience is required—just bring plenty of enthusiasm and a desire to get involved!
