Dunfermline U18s made the long trip up to Inverurie in great spirits looking for their first competitive win of the season.
The game kicked off and straight away Dunfermline showed they were there to play rugby, the first score came after just 5 mins of play, forwards comanding the contact and carrying hard opening up the space for the backs to play some nice flowing, running rugby this let Sam score early & converted by Muzz R.

The forward’s kept up the onslaught, running through the phases with good carrying and organised play quickly allowing gaps to appear in the defence for Muzz R to slip through to touch down for the second try of the game converting it himself. A dip in concentration & honey potting allowed Garioch to move the ball wide and score.

HT Garioch 5-12 Dunfermline

The second half started slower than our boys wanted, losing intensity allowing Garioch to pull back 2 try’s and a conversion putting Dunfermline 17-12 behind. The guys rallied together and pulled 1 back with Lewis scoring from multiple phases in the last 5 metres converted by Muzz R.

The last 10 mins was fairly level with game play but the team pulled together and finished strongly going back to basics creating space for Sam to run in from the backs, converted by Muzz R.
As the seconds ticked away to the final whistle the boys stood strong 💪🏻 in defence keeping Garioch camped in their own half.

Dunfermline U18s v Biggar – Away

Dunfermline U18s travelled to Biggar for the second round of the league, looking to bounce back strongly from the previous week.
The boys started the match brightly and established early dominance, showing good intent and physicality from the outset. However, a number of unforced errors allowed Biggar to take advantage and establish a lead.

A couple of early injuries in the backline certainly didn’t help, forcing changes and disrupting the side at a difficult stage of the game.
To their credit, the boys rallied well and continued to take the game to Biggar. Dunfermline enjoyed long periods of territorial dominance and, on another day, may well have capitalised on those opportunities. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite turn that pressure into enough points and ultimately fell just short.

There were plenty of positives to take from the performance, particularly the team's physicality, effort and willingness to keep fighting until the final whistle.
Lots to work on, but also plenty to build on as the season progresses.

A big thank you to Biggar for their hospitality, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.
