🏏 FIVES FINISH THEIR FIRST SEASON WITH A THRILLER! 💙

What a way for our 5th XI to complete their first ever season — a tie against Edinburgh Academy School at The Cairns!

With Douglas away, Alistair did a brilliant job organising everything off the field, leaving VJ to captain a side packed with some of the club’s exciting young players.

Bowling first in a reduced 35-over game, the Fives did superbly to pull Edinburgh Academy back after they threatened to get away from us. The wickets were shared around, with Ryan Mahajan an outstanding 2–6, while Jack Millar-Doughty, Neil Arulnathan and Eoin Clarke all picked up two wickets.

The youngsters were then given the opportunity to lead the chase and handled some very good bowling impressively. There were useful partnerships throughout the innings before Manotteja Mode top-scored with 30 not out, taking us right to the final ball.

And then came the moment of the day… Mano and VJ could have run another on the last delivery, but both thought 135 was the target! 😂

A senior moment perhaps — but a fantastic tie to finish the season.

The teams even played an unofficial Super Over afterwards at the request of the Edinburgh Academy youngsters, which the visitors won — but the official result remains a tie.

Plenty of individual highlights too: Ewan keeping, bowling and batting; some important breakthroughs from Jack; Ryan’s superb economy; excellent all-round cricket from Neil; Eoin leading the runs among the youngsters; some acrobatics from Alun; and Mano even getting his wish to have a go with the gloves!

A big thanks as well to Cormac for helping with umpiring and scoring, the parents who came along to support, and Inzi at Pepe’s for another excellent tea.

Most importantly, this brings the curtain down on something pretty special.

2026 was the first season in the club’s history that Dunfermline & Carnegie fielded five senior teams.

The Fives have competed brilliantly, finished comfortably in mid-table and, above all, given many of our developing players meaningful senior cricket.

🏆 FIFE CUP FINALS DAY AT McKANE

It’s all happening at McKane Park today as we host the Fife Cup Finals Day.

The action gets underway at 10.30am with Dunfermline & Carnegie taking on Falkland in the first semi-final.

At 2.00pm, Dunnikier face Largo in semi-final two, before the two winners meet in the Fife Cup Final at 5.30pm.

🍺 The bar opens at 12.30pm, so come down, enjoy a full day of T20 cricket and support the teams.
