Still plenty of ideas for different events to finish the year so this is not the end 👀

🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

We are sorry to say that will not be returning to Ginetta Junior Championship this season with immediate effect. Sad to not see the flying Scotsman finish the year. A few circumstances, including having to miss a round (due to injury) earlier in the year, have dented the Championship challenge slightly. We have been very lucky to have this funny young man in our team since just before the start of the 2021 season.

We hope this talented driver gets the chance to shine again in a race car in the future, who knows we may even see him back in our stable at some point😎.

A fantastic driver to watch in the races, never did you see Fergus go back in the pack 💪.

Thanks for the memories and keep backing us Fergus!

Round 5 of the Ginetta Junior Championship🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

My best qualifying so far this season of 5th & 6th💪🏻

Disappointingly, I was unable to convert qualifying and the pace in the car during races into results and points from the weekend.🙄

Mistakes are part of life and racing and part of the learning process.

For those I made myself, I accept responsibility and know where I can improve and learn from this.

Where mistakes happened around me, again I learn from that and realise I must put them out of my mind as quickly as possible and focus on the lap and race🤷🏼‍♂️

In the end Knockhill was, as it always is, an awesome circuit to race at and the fans were brilliant.❤️

I would have loved to record higher finishing places in Scotland but it wasn’t to be on this occasion.🥺

Thanks to all in the team who had to travel the distance I normally have to this time and spent so long away from home to provide their usual quality support and attention to detail.👏🏻💯

Thanks to who continues to increase my experience and knowledge of all I must learn to compete in Motorsport at the sharp end.

Although it’s a results business, sometimes you can take as much from disappointing results as you can from the best ones.😳

We come back stronger.💪🏻

It was awesome having lots of my family and friends come down to watch and support me ❤️

As well as some of my sponsors who came to support, I couldn’t do this without them so thank you Donside Slating. The Barbers. Aberdeen Cleaning Services

Irish Junior Mini Challenge

Well that was a last minute surprise😳

Thanks to a kind invitation and the support of Preptech UK, I found myself on a plane to Dublin😎

Leo Nulty Promotions offered his recently purchase Mini Cooper to drive at Mondello Park in the weekends race at the irrc

After some last minute rearranging and the support of my ever efficient travel manager (Dad🤣) flights, hire car, hotels and entry were all in place👍🏻

Never one to miss a night in Dublin, Mum decided to come as well🍷

So, about the racing

Practice was in the circuit school car on Friday morning as the Mini was still being prepared.

The Mazda gave me useful time with a manual gearbox and helped me leant the track.

I was able to get behind the wheel of the Mini in the afternoon and get some laps in but there was still more work to be done.

Leo and the guys from O’brien Motorsport worked hard into Friday evening and got a lot of things sorted for race day which got me on the grid.

After only 3 qualifying laps the clutch failed which was frustrating but maybe the ‘best’ time for that to happen 🤷🏼‍♂️

Having started the race well I had moved into 2nd position into turn one and enjoyed a great and clean battle with Cody for a few laps👌🏻

Sadly, the gearbox died and that ended the day for the car which was such a shame😔

Massive thanks and credit to everyone, including rival competitors, who all worked their socks off to try and get us back in the race.

Hopefully we might be able to return later in the year and get a full race weekend in this brilliant championship.

If you are 14-17 and looking at options to get you started, this is definitely a championship worth looking at👍🏻

It might not have all gone to plan but the people, the circuit, the car (when it was going) fellow competitors, even rivals, were all brilliant and helped keep us smiling all the time

Huge thanks to Preptech and Leo for giving me such an amazing opportunity and you deserved more for your efforts 💪🏻

Ireland? I’m coming back ❤️

My first ever rally was one I’ll never forget!😁

Fantastic weekend at Knockhill Racing Circuit for the Mcrae Rally Challenge 👌🏻

All very last minute but a huge thanks to everyone in the Junior 1000 Ecosse challenge for sorting this and putting it all together without fuss.👏🏻

Massive credit to Marc McCubbin and his team at AM Motorsport Services for their help in sourcing, preparing and servicing the Yaris we used for the event, can’t recommend them highly enough.👌🏻

The first time I drove the car was off the groundsheet to the stage start line.😳

The fact we were able to set competitive stage times all weekend surprised us and the wee car which must have thought we had just robbed a bank😂

The Yaris is quite a ‘basic’ car compared to the newer generation and it showed on a couple occasions but that made it easier to throw it around and have a good time 😎

Andrew Falconer was amazing in the ‘silly seat’ all weekend keeping me right and staying calm throughout a few hairy moments we had 😂

Going into the last stage we were only 4 seconds off the podium, unfortunately we broke something on a bump and the car lost power for a lot of the final stage.🤕

It was a brilliant weekend where I must thank many of the other competitors for making me so welcome and becoming new friends.🙌🏻

I wish them all the best of luck for the rest of their championship season🤞🏻

As always, huge thanks to Knockhill, the organisers, marshalls, recovery and emergency crews who make these events possible and take care of everyone as required.👍🏻

Weekend 3 of the Ginetta Junior Championship ✅

A special weekend as Thruxton is home circuit. 🙌🏻

A shorter weekend than usual with no Friday testing and only 2 races both on the Sunday.

On Saturday we had qualifying where I ended the session in P8 for race 1 and P13 for race 2.
The new format of only 3 flying laps proved costly as I was catching the cars in front and braking where this would not normally be necessary☹️

Race 1 was going well sitting in P6 until I ran a little wide on the fastest corner and then a few laps later I was forced wide on to the grass … Dropping a couple places and losing a rear bumper, I ended the race in P10.

In race 2 I climbed up to P7 and had the pace to challenge for a few more positions until a spinning car ahead that I was forced to avoid, twice 🥴dropped me to P8. The pace was there to take those places back but unfortunately the race was red flagged and ended early. ☹️

Lots of positives once more with speed traps, lap times and 8 finishes from 8 races so far💪🏻

Massive thanks to the team who gave me a car which felt amazing all weekend and gave me the confidence to push. And to for keeping me right and helping me to be fast. 💪🏻

Also a huge thanks to all of my sponsors for their support, good to have there with us again 😁

Round 2 of the championship Brands Hatch✅

The new helmet arrived on time, as promised, from DMD Helmet Design which, along with the new race boots and Kilt from Mitchell Scott meant I had plenty going on fashion wise!🕺

Qualifying round the Indy circuit is always extremely close and on Saturday morning this one was no different with 0.5 of a second covering the top 16.🥴The new qualifying format of 3 laps to set 2 best times allows no margin for error and my own best lap included me losing 10ths as an off-circuit car re-joined on my line.

Race 1 didn’t go to plan, eager to make up places from my starting position I drove a bit too hard in the conditions and struggled with the heat of the tyres as a result. Finishing the race where I started in P11 was not the position I was aiming for.

Race 2 was almost one of my best races, making up places straight away and climbing up to P6 I had the pace to be pulling away from the pack until a slight mistake sent me into a half spin where in a few seconds I dropped to P14. Only being able to get back to P12 was an opportunity missed.🤢

This meant in Sundays ITV race I started in P12.
After a stunning day on Saturday with high temperatures, blue skies and not a breath of wind, it was a surprise to wake to rain on Sunday.
This would mean my first ever race in the wet!
A good start put me into P10 where I sat stuck behind a slower car for a few laps until a spin from them nearly took me out of the race.🫣
I guess I was lucky that I only dropped one place in that instant, and it could have been much worse. Fortunately, I was able to take this place back and get a top 10 finish.

Massive thanks to everyone in the team Preptech UK making sure the car was running on point and thanks to James Gornall 'Jiggy' for keeping me focussed throughout the weekend. 👏👍

And a massive thanks to the Sponsors for getting me to where I am 🙌🏻 Was great to have Jim and Laura from there all weekend supporting us along! 😎

First Round of the 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship ✅

The sun shone all weekend at Donington Park to kick off the 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship season.

I was more grateful than most as this was my first weekend in the Kilt which has been supplied by Mitchell Scott, thank you to them.

Qualifying is now in the new short format of 3 flying laps from which the 2 fastest times are grid positions in Races 1 & 2.

Qualifying P11 in Race 1 I was unable to progress back through the field after a mistake at turn 1 lost me 4 places and later developing a stiff/sticking throttle which saw me dropping to P13 for the end unfortunately.

Starting from P9 on the grid for Race 2 I was running in a pack of cars inside the top 10 after a couple of laps when contact in front rippled through the group.

Unable to avoid collecting damage to the front end after a heavy impact, the hole in the front clam made the car act as a parachute, slowing me down for the remaining laps.

Losing outright speed on the straight in particular meant I crossed the line in 11th and that would be my starting place for Sunday's race.

Saturday had shown there was pace in the car and I was determined to push for an improved result.

Feeling confident, I got a really good start and began to move forward instantly.

Staying in touch with the front pack there were some great battles and I was involved in a couple of my own!

It was satisfying to bring the car over the line to secure 6th after swapping places 4 times and finally securing the position on the last lap.

I'm now looking forward to Round 2 at Brands Hatch to continue the move forward.

Delighted with how the weekend ended and a massive thanks to the team for always being where they are needed and their willingness to always get things done. Preptech UK

Now, head down and study for my exams.

Thanks to my family, friends, supporters, driver coaches and sponsors who all contribute the extra bits that are needed to make this all possible.

Big shout out to Dreelside Engineering Ltd, Lawrence of Kemnay, Mitchell Scott, Donside Slating, The Barbers, Champion RV

When a single podium equals many victories🏆

At the end of a debut season in racing, I can count myself really lucky to be part of a wonderful family, supported by so many other people and to have made some fantastic new friends. ❤️

It was explained to me before the season began that the Ginetta Junior Championship would be really competitive, it would take time to get up to speed and there would be difficult days.

This year for the first time I now pay attention to my diet and exercise as it all matters 🏋️‍♂️

Now that I have stood on the podium and tasted how that feels, the weekends of frustration and disappointment, which are a necessary part of the learning process, feel light as a feather💪🏻

I have been so lucky to have been supported and mentored by Oliver and the fantastic team at Preptech and to have been coached by Jiggy.

They have never doubted me at any point. They never allowed me to give up.
They always said the right words at the right time.
Everyone in the team has been kind, strong, funny and made sure I never forgot to smile, stay positive and always move forwards.

My team mates, James and Haydn , or friends as they have become, also deserve thanks and congratulations. They have fought their own battles and setbacks too, but they bounce back, get behind the wheel and go again💪🏻 I hope you have learned as much from me as I have from you👍🏻

The “Big Brother” of the garage had his own racing to focus on and boy is he good at it🏎🏆 But Carlito was never too busy or self absorbed to make time for us, to coach us, give advice, encouragement or a shoulder to lean on when it was needed. Top guy, top driver, top friend ❤️

From having no racing/circuit experience and only 4 days of pre season testing to being able to stand on the podium and share it with my teammate was awesome. 🙌🏻

When I stood on the podium at Brands Hatch this weekend I felt like I had won the race, it made it all worth it 🏁🏆

Thanks for all the support this year from my sponsors who make this all possible, and thanks to my school for being so understanding and letting me take time off.

Now that’s how to end the season🙌🏻

See you all soon🏎😉

The weather and the venue couldn’t be faulted, both excellent all week☀️
Round 8 was another eventful weekend 🥴
Finally broke the qualifying curse and recorded a season best so far of P9 & P11🏎👍🏻
The races would take more words than they deserve so I will simply file all 3 under useful experience!!😂
Now under pressure with only 1 weekend remaining to break another season long curse, Sunday TV race starting position🙈
Delighted with the pace in the car and the steady progress once more.
As a team we all know what can be achieved 💪🏻
have done all they can👏🏻
has also done his bit🙌🏻
Now it’s over to me to deliver🤔
Well done to team mates + 🏎
Big congrats to who is a great driver and an even better friend😉 awesome race win, well deserved 🥇
Thanks to all my sponsors who help make this all possible and make sure I am the best version of me on and off track🙏🏻 See you all in 2 weeks for the final round of the year 🏁
