A picture from my last marathon 9 years ago which popped up in my timeline as my 4 year old daughter looks on.
I’d just ran a PB but I still wasn’t happy.
It’s bizarre now looking back at it.
The thing is, in the world of exercise and fitness very few of us are truly content with where we are.
Most of us are guilty of always chasing something more — being leaner, getting fitter, running faster, lifting heavier, or reaching the next goal. You see others and it’s easy to feel inferior in comparison.
We rarely stop to appreciate how far we’ve come.
We forget that we’re healthy, fortunate enough to move our bodies, and able to exercise when many people would love to have that opportunity.
Of course, improvement is rewarding.
Having goals and striving to be better is part of what makes life enjoyable.
But every now and then, it’s worth slowing down and taking stock of where you are today. Remind yourself:
“I know I’m not perfect, but I feel better now than I used to be’
Don’t become so focused on the next milestone that you forget to appreciate the progress you’ve already made.
Enjoy the present 💛
It’s where life is happening🖤
