A great day for our Seniors at Stanedge Golf Club! ⛳️

Congratulations to Roger and the team, who recorded an excellent 4½–½ victory over Lees Hall at home today.

And, of course, a Seniors match wouldn’t be complete without some proper post-match food! Homemade cottage pie, twice-cooked chips and rich beef dripping gravy served in Tyzack’s Bar & Bistro afterwards.

Competitive golf, great camaraderie and everyone sitting down together for a homemade meal afterwards — exactly what club golf is all about.

Today was our annual Ryder Cup event at Stanedge Golf Club, with members proudly representing Team Europe and Team USA.

Leading the teams once again were our captains, Joe Elliott for Team USA 🇺🇸 and Roger Thorley for Team Europe 🇪🇺.

Playing a combination of Fourball and Foursomes, it was a closely contested day from start to finish.

Congratulations to Team USA, who took the victory 7½–6½ over Team Europe! 🇺🇸🏆

After the golf, everyone headed into Tyzack’s Bar & Bistro to enjoy our American-inspired specials and round off a brilliant day.

Days like today are about far more than just the golf. They’re about bringing members together, enjoying the competition, the laughs, the friendships and everything that makes being part of a golf club special.

A huge thank you to everyone who played and supported the day. We hope you all enjoyed it — and congratulations once again to Joe and Team USA!

Team Europe took the honours last year, so the score is well and truly level going into 2027! 🇪🇺🇺🇸

Sometimes, the simplest things are the best — when they are done well.

Chatting to two of our regular non-golfing customers today, we got onto the subject of food and what keeps people coming back to Stanedge.

You don’t always want something complicated. Sometimes you just want good, freshly prepared food, a friendly welcome and somewhere lovely to sit and enjoy it.

At Tyzack’s Bar & Bistro at Stanedge Golf Club, our menu is deliberately varied — from breakfasts and lighter bites to hearty homemade dishes, daily specials and home baking. And sometimes, cheesy beans on toast with plenty of cheese is exactly what you fancy!

One of the things we love most is that so many people visit Stanedge who have never picked up a golf club. Tyzack’s is very much open to everyone.

Today is International Thank a Greenkeeper Day – an opportunity to recognise the people behind the course we are so proud of at Stanedge.

The condition and presentation of a golf course doesn’t happen by accident. It takes knowledge, skill, hard work and an incredible amount of attention to detail.

From the greens and bunkers to the fairways, tees and everything in between, our team put an enormous amount of care, skill and attention into the course throughout the year.

We are incredibly proud of what they achieve. The compliments we continually receive from members, visitors, societies and county events about the condition and presentation of Stanedge are testament to the standards they maintain.

So today, a very big thank you to Lee, Jason, Oliver and Mark for everything you do.

Behind every great course is a great team.

GREENKEEPERS’ REVENGE 2026 ⛳️

The stage was set this morning……and it quickly became clear that our greens team had been looking forward to this one!

Hoses wrapped around holes, chairs guarding the flag, rakes, hoops, poles and obstacles in places no golfer would ever expect to find them. Today, a good putt wasn’t necessarily enough — you also needed imagination, a sense of humour and, on occasions, a little bit of luck.

Greenkeepers’ Revenge is their one opportunity to forget everything they know about fair pin positions and course set-up and turn the tables on the golfers. Safe to say, they made the most of it.

There were plenty of laughs, a few bewildered looks and no doubt the occasional muttered word as everyone tackled the course.

But amongst all the mischief, these photographs also show something we are incredibly proud of — just how beautifully the course and greens are presented.

A huge thank you to the greens team for the work that went into creating today and to everyone who played and entered into the spirit of it

A real pleasure to host the annual Ideal Flooring & Roll End Centre Golf Day once again, with a fantastic turnout and all in support of the wonderful Ashgate Hospice.

It was lovely to hear such great feedback about the condition of the course and the buffet afterwards — something our whole team can be very proud of.

💚 OUR MACMILLAN DAY AT STANEDGE 💚

Friday 25th September | From 10am

Because none of us walks alone.

Cancer will touch almost all of our lives in some way — through a parent, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour or perhaps ourselves.

That’s why we’re coming together at Stanedge for our Macmillan Day.

From 10am, join us for homemade cakes, coffee and conversation, with all proceeds from our bake sale going directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.

But this day is about more than raising money.

It’s about remembering those we’ve lost, supporting those facing cancer today, celebrating those who have come through the other side and simply being there for one another.

Come for a coffee. Buy a slice of cake. Make a donation. Stay for a chat.

Every cake, every coffee and every pound makes a difference.
