August Duck Club 🦆🏏🌳

There are nine new members for the Ashover Duck Club, including some of the Barbarian's finest ever batters!

Rodney Rens has scored 984 runs this season (including a big hundred at Duffield), and qualifies for Duck Club courtesy of a trip to Nutbrook.

Russell Cooke (721 runs in 2026) and William Saxton (475) - also centurions this year - get in because they both bagged yella fellas in the 1st XI victory over Stainsby Hall.

And even Ashover Sunday skipper and Spireite legend Super Jonny Howard (1,776 career runs for the Barbarians) joins the club this month.

What these lads know, and Duck Club reminds us all of, is that failure is part of success. The highs are all the higher after after tasting the lows!

🏏 Ashover Barbarians CC: 2026 Season Presentation Evening! 🏏

We’re wrapping up an incredible season with a huge End of Season Presentation Evening, and you’re invited!

🗓️ Date: Friday 9th October 2026
⏰ Time: 6:30 PM
📍 Location: Ashover Parish Hall

This presentation evening is for all Senior Teams (including the Ladies Team) and the Under 15 & Under 17 age groups (other junior teams will have their own dedicated presentation night.)

🍔 Food & Drinks: We have two fantastic food vendors on-site for the evening (🍕 Mamo’s Pizza 🥐 Peak and Stone Bakery).

🎟️ Tickets: Adults: £5, Children: £3
💳 Payment Info: Please transfer payment into the Ashover Barbarians bank account using "Presentation" as your payment reference.

Rodney Runs led the charge with a magnificent 144* at Duffield — the highest score by a Barbarian in August! 🏏

Daz Parkin and Russell Cooke also reached three figures as our senior batters made the most of the summer sun. ☀️💯

James Taylor takes top spot on the August bowling leaderboard with an outstanding 5-53 in the 1sts win over Stainsby Hall! 🔴

Ben Carley deserves a massive shoutout, featuring three times among the month’s top spells — though he somehow managed to avoid a five-fer and dodged buying a jug for the team! 🍺👀

No change at the very top of the MVP rankings this week (Paul Daniels still #1 🪄), but Joe O'Brien and Danny Rens leapfrog Ben Carley into 2nd and 3rd place, respectively 🏏🌳👊

Rodney Rens, Russell Cooke and James Taylor all picked up plenty of points last weekend, but remain 5th, 6th and 7th 📈
