Peak Performance Coach for Elite Founders & Execs | Nervous System Expert | Ex-Pro Athlete | Engineer Energy, Focus & Fast Decisions | Football Academy Manager at Pro Player Centres I am NOT a Personal Trainer…

(sorry to seem so abrupt because this isn’t a PT Bashing)

And you’re right, yes, I have been one

But there

is a problem here

Everyone has a perception of what a Personal Trainer is and does

And I don’t do that (well some bits but that’s for another day)

There is so much more to it

Behaviour Change coaching has allowed me to step into an incredible world of truly understanding why you do what you do and that we are able to fix your problem without Circuit Training and Burpees

A client told me on our last call which is only three weeks in

“this has literally changed my life, my kids have their dad back and my wife has her husband back”

Now we’re not getting carried away this early but the power in this programme is almost cheat code it’s not fair

So why does it accelerate your results without the stress of giving up and starting over again in 6 months time

Nothing is off the menu – we use a permission over restriction strategy because you’re an adult after all and no one should tell you what you can and can’t have

It’s personalised to you – There is no cookie cutter programme here it’s your struggles and life that we create solutions for

The attention is moved away from solely working out and into the 5 key Pillars of the programme’s success; Exercise, nutrition, Mindset, Habits and Lifestyle

And this is just the tip of the Ice Berg

But I’ve got to hold an ace or two up my sleeve right

You know what…if you’re keen to learn more about how this programme will work for you then I’ll spill the beans over some Arabicas on a call

How does that sound?

The wiser (older 😬) I get…

The less impressed I am by intensity

Anyone can go all in for a day

Wake up motivated

Smash through a to do list

Declare this is the week everything changes

The bit that interests me now

Is what happens next Tuesday

When you’re tired

Busy

Slightly irritated

And nobody is watching

Because that’s where results are built

Not in the big push

In the boring repeat

The walk you still take

The standard you still hold

The promise you keep to yourself

Most people overestimate what one great day can do

And massively underestimate what one good day repeated can do

Enjoy your weekend

You’ve earned it

Just don’t spend it recovering from a life you’ve accidentally designed that way

Dr Pepper...

What’s the worst that can happen? 🤷🏻‍♂️

(You’re singing it now aren’t you)

Yet it’s a question we rarely ask ourselves when it actually matters

How many things have you delayed recently because of the unknown?

The conversation
The decision
The message
The opportunity

I caught myself doing it this week

Hovering over send on a message to parents about a new programme I’m building for athletes

Focused on improving:

Decision making
Reaction
Confidence

I had the message written
The idea built
The plan ready

Yet there I was

Hovering…

Because once you press send you find out

People might ignore it
People might say no
People might not see what you see

Or...

They might love it

The funny thing about fear

It always asks you to imagine the worst case scenario

Rarely the best one

So I pressed send

Because no opportunity has ever arrived from hovering

Only action creates outcomes

And BOOM 13 YES’s within minutes

You see most of the time...

The thing you’re worried about isn’t nearly as scary as your imagination made

The client thought he needed a gym…

He needed a walk

Sounds crazy

Until you realise how many successful people are doing exactly the same thing

Waiting

The gym gets finished

The project ends

The holiday is over

Then I’ll focus on myself

Then I’ll start

Then I’ll sort it

This week we ignored the gym

And focused on the habit

6:30am

Out the door

Walking

Because high performers don’t wait for perfect

They work with available

That’s the difference

If you’ve been telling yourself

“When X happens, then I’ll…”

Let’s stop waiting

I had a horrible thought this weekend…

What if this is as good as it gets?

Not the business

Me!

What if the energy I have now becomes normal?

What if this level of patience becomes normal?

What if needing a whole weekend to recover becomes normal?

What if this version of me slowly becomes the standard?

That thought bothered me more than it should have

Because I’ve seen it happen

Not in one big dramatic collapse

In successful people

Good people

Capable people

The ones everyone looks at and thinks

“They’ve got it sorted”

Meanwhile they’re operating at 70%

And they’ve been there so long

They’ve forgotten there was another gear

That’s the part nobody warns you about

Success hides drift

You can still make money

Still lead a team
Still hit targets
Still be admired

While quietly accepting less from yourself every year

Maybe that’s why I still obsess over performance

Not because I want more

Because I don’t want to lose what I already know is possible

And if that thought made you uncomfortable

Good

It made me uncomfortable too

The version of you that needs the weekend most

Is usually the version that’s been ignoring themselves all week

Not sleeping less
Not working harder
Ignoring themselves

Skipping the walk
Rushing lunch
Delaying the decision
Pushing through the tiredness

Saying “I’ll sort it next week”

Then Friday arrives

And suddenly the weekend becomes a rescue mission

Here’s a thought…

What if the goal wasn’t to survive until Friday?

What if the goal was to feel this good on a Wednesday?

The highest performers I know don’t recover from their week

They manage themselves through it

Small difference

Massive outcome

Enjoy your weekend

You’ve earned it

Just don’t spend two days recovering from five 😬

What if I don’t like you?

I remember the conversation like it was yesterday

One of those early calls

The usual back and forth

Then came the question

“What if I don’t like you?”

Fair point...

I mean I’d already decided I liked me

But he hadn’t had that luxury yet

Fast forward a few years

He’s a successful graphic designer in the music industry

Worked with names like Fat Boy Slim and Robbie Williams

We still speak regularly

Business
Wellbeing
Rehab
Life

Whatever needs discussing

Every Christmas we exchange beers

This year’s gift was Jeremy Clarkson’s own brand

Which I have to admit is annoyingly good

The funny thing is

If he’d let that question stop him

None of it would have happened

No progress
No friendship
No beers
No years of conversations

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to predict whether something will work

That we never actually try it

Whether that’s a coach

A new opportunity
A hobby
A relationship

Or a challenge you’ve been putting off

You don’t have to commit forever
You just have to be willing to find out

You’ll never know if you like something

Until you give it a go

I think I’m at a crossroads...

Which is funny really

Because if you’d asked me after I retired from ice hockey what I’d be doing today

Football wouldn’t have made the list

Yet here we are

Most nights of the week I’m on a pitch

Academy Manager
Coaching
Building environments
Obsessing over how we develop young athletes better

And I can’t stop thinking about it

The psychology
The confidence
The decision making
The habits
The stuff beneath the performance

At the same time

I still love the work I do with business leaders

Some of my clients have been with me for over a decade

I’ve watched businesses grow
Families grow
People become better versions of themselves

That’s hard to walk away from

The strange thing is...

The work isn’t actually that different

Whether it’s a founder
An executive
Or a 9 year old footballer

You’re still helping someone perform under pressure

Build confidence
Trust themselves
And become more than they thought possible

So for now it’s a blend

One foot in each world

And honestly...

I’m quite enjoying seeing where it takes me

Life has a funny way of putting you exactly where you’re supposed to be

Even when it starts in an ice rink and somehow ends on a football pitch

Feeling slower than you should

Decisions taking longer
Energy lower than normal
Everything feeling heavier than it needs to

My Clarity Call is designed to find the leak

In 60 minutes

We’ll identify:

What’s creating mental drag
What’s slowing decision making
What’s costing you energy

The next steps to fix it

You’ll leave with clarity

A plan

And a clear understanding of what’s getting in your way

The scary part is it’s working…

You’re still making money

Still getting results

Still holding everything together

Which means nobody notices

Including you

That’s how standards slip

Not when things fall apart

When things are good enough

You stop tracking
Stop paying attention
Stop doing the things that got you here

Because you can get away with it

For now

I caught myself the other week

“I’ll start using my WHOOP properly again after the holiday”

The moment I said it I knew what was happening

Not laziness

Negotiation

The kind that slowly lowers your level without you realising

High performers rarely implode

They drift

One small compromise at a time

Until the gap between what they’re capable of and what they’re accepting becomes normal

That’s the danger

Not failure

Success that allows you to get comfortable

Even reading this post you see a threat…

That’s how powerful your nervous system is

You can consciously want to:

Perform better
Earn more
Feel healthier
Show up differently

Yet still resist the very things that would help you get there

Not because you’re lazy

Because your current state is trying to protect you

Your nervous system prefers familiar over better

Which means:

stress

overthinking

holding back

and staying where you are can actually feel safer than change

That’s why high performers get frustrated with themselves

“I know what to do so why am I not doing it?”

Because information isn’t the issue

Your system just isn’t fully convinced it’s safe to change yet

What is one thing you have avoided this week when you know you shouldn’t have?
