The Phil Hampton Memorial Ride 21st March 2026

This ride is organised annually in memory of Phil, a cyclist from West Surrey, who was killed in 2002 while cycling on the A3. Our aim is to raise funds for The Cyclists’ Defence Fund, a charity set up to fight legal cases involving cyclists but which now covers all aspects of cycling and the law.

The date this year is Saturday 21st March. We have the same routes as last year with the choice of either 50 or 30 miles starting from Medstead Village Hall at either 9.00am or 9.30am respectively, allowing more time for the longer route to be completed.

The routes contain a few short sections of busy roads, fast twisty descents as well as steep climbs so please read the cue-sheets to see where they are.

Once again we’re asking for a minimum donation of £10 to enter which will also cover refreshments at the hall so you won’t need to bring cash for refreshments on the day.

As always, extra donations will be welcome, and you can still pay in cash on the day.

As usual there will be free tea and coffee before the event, and sandwiches and cakes will be available afterwards. Pubs and cafes can be found on both routes.

Please see our website for an entry form and more information:
