Yesterday was adult grading day at Alton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – one of my favourite days of the year, even if it’s always a long and tiring one!

Being able to reward the hard work, commitment and perseverance of our students is a real privilege. But the grading itself is only the final step. As a coach, there’s months of thought and observation that go into every promotion. I’m constantly asking myself if the timing is right, if the student is truly ready, and how each decision will help them continue to progress while maintaining the high grading standards of both our club and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a whole, it’s a responsibility I take very seriously.

Congratulations to everyone who earned a new belt or stripe yesterday. Every promotion was thoroughly deserved, and I’m incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved.

We rounded off the day with an amazing BBQ shared with our BJJ family and friends. Great food, great company, and a brilliant way to celebrate everyone’s hard work.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. It’s days like these that remind me how special our club really is. 🥋🔥 🥋

Another brilliant open mat tonight at Alton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! 💪
The mats were packed, the rounds were tough, and everyone brought a great attitude. Plenty of high-quality rolls, lots of learning, and an awesome atmosphere from start to finish.
It’s great to see members of all levels pushing themselves, helping each other improve, and enjoying the grind together. That’s what makes this club special.
Thanks to everyone who came along. Rest up… we’ll do it all again tomorrow 🥋🔥

What a fantastic day for Alton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the Bournemouth Open on Saturday!

We had 17 of our kids step onto the competition mats and represent the club with incredible courage, determination, and sportsmanship. Regardless of the results, every single one of them made us proud with the way they competed and supported their teammates throughout the day.

The standard of competition was extremely high, but our team rose to the challenge and delivered some outstanding performances. Seeing the hard work they’ve put into training being displayed on the competition mats was a pleasure to watch.

To top it all off, Alton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu once again secured 3rd place in the Kids Team standings – an incredible achievement for our club and a testament to the commitment of our young athletes, coaches, and supportive parents.

A huge congratulations to all 17 competitors. Win or lose, stepping onto the mat takes courage, and every one of you represented the club brilliantly.

Onwards and upwards! 🥋💪🏆

Massive well done to Elliot for stepping up and competing at the Police BJJ competition today 👊

It takes guts to put it on the line, and representing both himself and the team out there is something to be proud of. Win or lose, it’s about testing yourself under pressure and gaining experience—and that’s exactly what he did today.
