What a fantastic day for Alton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the Bournemouth Open on Saturday!

We had 17 of our kids step onto the competition mats and represent the club with incredible courage, determination, and sportsmanship. Regardless of the results, every single one of them made us proud with the way they competed and supported their teammates throughout the day.

The standard of competition was extremely high, but our team rose to the challenge and delivered some outstanding performances. Seeing the hard work they’ve put into training being displayed on the competition mats was a pleasure to watch.

To top it all off, Alton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu once again secured 3rd place in the Kids Team standings – an incredible achievement for our club and a testament to the commitment of our young athletes, coaches, and supportive parents.

A huge congratulations to all 17 competitors. Win or lose, stepping onto the mat takes courage, and every one of you represented the club brilliantly.

Onwards and upwards! 🥋💪🏆

Massive well done to Elliot for stepping up and competing at the Police BJJ competition today 👊

It takes guts to put it on the line, and representing both himself and the team out there is something to be proud of. Win or lose, it’s about testing yourself under pressure and gaining experience—and that’s exactly what he did today.

Big energy on the mats today 👊

Our kids class was full of focus, effort, and some seriously sharp technique. From solid drilling to live rounds, everyone stepped up and pushed themselves — exactly what we want to see.

It’s not just about learning Jiu Jitsu… it’s about building confidence, discipline, and resilience that carries over into everyday life.

Proud of every single one of them today. Keep showing up, keep improving 💪

Drilling is where real progress in BJJ is made.

It’s easy to get caught up in sparring, chasing submissions, and “winning” rounds — but without solid reps, your technique will always break down under pressure.

Drilling builds:

* Muscle memory so you don’t have to think mid-roll
* Timing and precision
* Confidence to execute when it counts

The athletes who improve fastest aren’t the ones going 100% every round — they’re the ones putting in focused, consistent reps on the fundamentals.

Slow it down. Be intentional. Get the details right.

Because when things speed up… you’ll fall back on what you’ve drilled.
