Membership-driven athletic club in Winnipeg for the sport of rowing, for all ages and skill levels.

Fostering a long and proud tradition of rowing on the Red River since 1881. The Winnipeg Rowing Club is located on the Red River just south of The Forks in downtown Winnipeg. It is one of the oldest sporting organizations in Western Canada. The Winnipeg Rowing Club has been in operation since 1881, stopping only twice in its history – during WWI and WWII. It survived the Northwest Rebellion of 1885, the General Strike of 1919, the Great Depression of the 1930′s, the Great Flood of 1950, and the Flood of the Century in 1997. Over the years the clubhouse has been destroyed by fire, wind, and water, but has somehow always managed to maintain its long and proud tradition. Today, the WRC is a non-profit organization, with a rich and successful sporting history, and fostering generations of camaraderie and friendships. Members range from 13 to 85, and the club offers programs for all skill levels. WRC is a member of Manitoba Rowing Association (MRA) and Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA).

The Winnipeg Rowing club would like to say a big THANK YOU to Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for sponsoring the exterior lighting upgrades on the boathouse.

During fall rowing, when mornings stay dark until later... and the sun sets earlier in the evenings... having good lights on the boathouse and tarmac is essential for safety.

We appreciate Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for helping with the new lighting, and for supporting the sport of rowing -- which has been a long and proud tradition in Winnipeg since 1881!

Mike competed over the weekend in Boston, and had a very good result - finishing 10th in a field of 46 athletes in his 1x category, and earning a spot in next year's Head of the Charles.

We'd like to give a shout-out to an exceptional athlete who is representing the Winnipeg Rowing Club & Manitoba Rowing in Boston this weekend.

Mike Caryk is racing in the 1x (Single) category at the Head of the Charles Regatta from October 16-18. We wish him all the best from Winnipeg as he competes against some of the best in North America, and the world! Rowing Canada Aviron

We have one more Learn to Row this season!

Looking for a fun and friendly way to get active, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors? The WRC's Learn to Row program is the perfect introduction to the exciting world of rowing!

Join with a friend or family and have fun while learning a new sport. You will learn basic stroke technique, boat safety, and teamwork on both land and water.

The sessions start on September 2, and are open to juniors (13+ years old) and adults. No rowing experience is required. You will receive 6 training sessions, 2 hours in length each, for a total of 12 hours. The cost is $250.

Looking forward to welcoming Minneapolis Rowing Club, Winnipeg Rowing Club, Thunder Bay Rowing Club, Minnesota Boat Club and Pinawa to Rabbit Lake for Saturday’s races. Racing will be underway f7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Spectators welcome!

The Winnipeg Rowing Club is co-hosting the annual "Tops & Bottoms Regatta" on July 25th along with the Kenora Rowing Club - and we are seeking volunteers for the following positions:

Boat-holders at start line
Kitchen helpers
BBQ helpers
Timers at finish line
Safety boat drivers

Long-time Winnipeg Rowing Club member Jim Nykoluk recently celebrated his 90th birthday! 🎂

Dozens of Jim's family and friends gathered at the WRC to take part in his special day. It was an honour to discover just how much he has contributed not only to the sport of rowing - but also to hockey, and to golf, and to so many other communities.

Jim has rightfully earned a legendary reputation in Winnipeg's sporting world - and also at the Winnipeg Rowing Club. We're grateful that he is part of our community, and we wish him many more happy birthdays!

The Winnipeg Rowing Club is taking Part in the Rowing Canada Aviron "Come Try Rowing" events happening all across Canada this weekend!

This Friday June 12, drop in at the WRC between 4-9pm and try out rowing in one session. The cost is $25 per person.
