The Manitoba Wombats are proud to recognize Larry Cherrett and congratulate him for his induction into the Manitoba Rugby Hall of Fame class of 2025 in the Builder category!

Larry began playing rugby in Winnipeg in 1970, is a founding member and former President of the Wombats, and has served the club and broader rugby community over the years in many volunteer and leadership capacities. His contributions to Rugby in Manitoba are numerous, and he has had a significant impact on the growth of our club and the sport in general.

Please join us in celebrating Larry by attending the Rugby Manitoba Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on October 18th at The Gates. Tickets must be purchased by this Thursday, Oct. 9, see this link for details: http://www.manitobarugbyhalloffame.com/

Premier Grand Final 2025

This Saturday the Manitoba Wombats are back in the Premier Provincial Final. Here are your 23 men who will be representing our family on Saturday.

The Wombats play the Wasps at 4 pm on Saturday @ Maple Grove Rugby Park. Come on down to the park and support the Marsupials as they do their best to win the championship!

The wombats started their playoffs this past weekend with two quarterfinal matchups.

First up was the division 2 team, playing against a determined Dauphin Mavericks team who showed up looking to find redemption after two regular season losses to the Wombats. A slow start to the game caused the Wombats to play catch up for the rest of the clock. Unfortunately it was too little too late as the division 2 team just couldn’t catch the Mavericks. A wonderful season cut short!

Next up was the Premier Wombats team. Looking hungry to win 3 straight against the Assassins 1st XV in consecutive weeks, the Wombats controlled the match early and secured the win. With the win the Wombats get a bye straight to the grand final. September 27th, 5 pm at Maple Grove Rugby Park. Looking forward to seeing all of the support that day!
