How strong is your grip? 💪

It might seem like a small thing, but grip strength can tell us a lot about your overall physical capacity.

A strong grip helps with everything from carrying groceries and opening jars to climbing, paddling, lifting and holding onto the things that keep you active and exploring.

Like any other part of the body, grip strength can be trained and building it doesn’t have to be complicated. Consistent strength training, carrying, hanging and pulling can all help build stronger hands and a more capable body over time.

Because the goal isn’t just having a stronger grip.

It’s having the strength and capacity to keep doing the things you love for the long haul.

A long weekend means a little extra time to get outside and explore. 🌲🥾☀️

Whether you’re heading for the mountains, getting out on the water, exploring a new trail or simply enjoying some extra time moving outdoors, we hope you make the most of it.

After all, this is what we train for!

The best part of training isn’t always what happens in the gym. It’s what that training allows you to do outside of it. 🌲💪

Building strength, balance, mobility and resilience takes time. It’s consistent work, guided by a smart plan and adapted along the way as your body changes.

But the payoff can look pretty incredible.

A hike that once felt intimidating. Getting back on your skis. Travelling without worrying about whether your body can keep up. Taking on a new adventure with more strength and confidence than you had before.

Those real world outcomes are what we’re working toward.

Training is part of the process. Living a capable, adventurous life is the goal.

Restore to Explore. 🌲🏔️

It’s more than a saying. It’s the reason behind what we do.

We believe training should help you build a body that’s capable of keeping up with the life you want to live. Whether that means hiking a new trail, getting back on your skis, travelling somewhere new, playing with your kids, or simply moving through everyday life with more strength and confidence.

The work we do in the gym is only part of the story.

Building strength, mobility, balance and resilience gives us more opportunities to get outside, explore, take on new challenges and keep doing the things we love for years to come.

That’s what Restore to Explore means to us.

What are you training to explore?

Getting ready to hike mountains? Good training can take many different forms. 🏔️💪

What matters is that it meets you where you’re at, provides the right amount of eustress (positive stress), and is done consistently with a smart plan in place.

Watching Nancy perform these two movements, you can see how they would transfer beautifully to stronger, more resilient knees, hips and ankles out on the trail.

What you don’t see is all the training that led up to this point, and the smart decisions Nancy and her coach have made along the way to get her here. Great work Nancy! 🎉✨

Having a human body and taking care of it is real work. Without the right knowledge, it can sometimes feel almost impossible to know what to do. But learning your body, building its capacity, and taking care of it over the long haul is worth the time and effort. 🥰🌎

From injury management to Lord of the Rings style exploration. 🌲

Huge congratulations to Shane on completing the West Coast Trail. 🎉🥰

Over the past few years he’s worked with Coach Iker and Restore Human to work through persistent foot, knee and shoulder issues with one goal: not just reducing pain, but building a body that’s ready for adventure.

Strength. Elasticity. Balance. Confidence. Consistent coaching, both in person and remotely.

The result? A challenging multi-day trek completed injury free.

Here are his words:
“Survived the wct ! And no crutches needed :). Thank you for the help recently and over the last few years 😁 on to the next challenge. I was glad of all the log balance training on some of those bridge and narrow and rickety 😁”

This is why we do what we do. ❤️🌲💪

Congrats, Shane. On to the next adventure. 👏

Client Spotlight on Jenny! 82 years old. 60km on day one of a multi-day cycling trip through Portugal, then 80km days after that! Jenny didn’t train for a vacation. She trained for a life that doesn’t stop being adventurous.

This is what Restore to Explore looks like. Now a Coach Spotlight! Jenny’s Coach, Coach Jana recently did her own bikepacking trip to Salt Spring. We’re not just coaching others this way, we’re living it too. The work we do together in the studio gets tested on our own bodies first.

Jenny and Jana are proof that what we build in the gym is about staying capable, and saying yes to what comes next!

Way to go Jenny 💪🚴✨ And way to go Coach Jana, for practicing what we preach. 🥰🌎

Teamwork makes the dream work. 🤙🌎🛶

The Kitsilano crew was out on the water this weekend, rain and sunshine and all of it. Getting to know their paddles, getting to know each other, and getting to know the beautiful waters around Vancouver.

Huge shout out to local canoe guide Shawn Kangro for refreshing and upgrading our skills in these wonderful crafts.

The challenge is out to the Oak Bay crew and all of you. What outdoor training are you committing to this season? ⛺️✨🌱

Client spotlight on Jakub 🙌

Watch him tackle these two seriously challenging movements. The lizard crawl and the shrimp squat. These two demand serious body control, coordination and strength built from the ground up.

Jukob’s north star is simple: big hiking adventures, confidently, without wondering if his body is going to hold up. That’s what we’re building. Smart stress, right stimulus, consistent work. 💪🏔️✨

Nice Jakub! 🎉
