Today we celebrate one of the greatest sporting achievements in honour of Terry Fox.
At 21 years of age he set out from St John's on a prosthetic leg and ran close to a marathon every day for 143 days and 5,373 kilometres across Canada.
Cancer forced him to stop outside Thunder Bay before he could finish, but the Marathon of Hope has since raised over $1 billion for cancer research in over 60 countries, leaving an unparalleled legacy that inspires the entire world to run in his honour on this day.
