One of the things we value most about CrossFit has very little to do with CrossFit itself.
It’s what fitness allows you to do outside the gym.
Over time, it’s easy to accept that certain things are just part of getting older.
That you’ll slow down.
That you’ll stop doing some of the things you once enjoyed.
That certain opportunities will pass you by because your body isn’t quite up to it anymore.
We don’t believe that has to be the case.
We believe fitness should give you confidence in your body.
Confidence to paddle out.
Confidence to join in.
Confidence to say yes when opportunities arise.
Most of our members aren’t training because they want to become competitive CrossFit athletes.
They’re training because they want to keep living a full and active life.
To travel.
To play sport.
To explore the outdoors.
To keep up with their kids and, one day, their grandkids.
To know that when life calls on them, they’re ready.
As coaches, we often talk about building work capacity.
Not so people can do more work in the gym.
So they have the strength, endurance and confidence to do more with their lives.
CrossFit is the workout.
Capability is the outcome.
Stories like this are a reminder of what we’re really building.
Not better CrossFitters.
More capable humans.
And that’s why stories like this mean so much to us.
