Coaching applications close at the end of this week

WABA are seeking Expressions of Interest for all junior representative teams for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

EOI’s are open for those interested in the following positions;

• Head Coaches
• Assistant Coaches
• Development Coaches

The WABA Junior Representative Program is built on strong standards and values, with a clear vision to develop a successful, caring, and dedicated culture. Our program aims to support athlete development while empowering skilled, accredited, and respected coaches to deliver both individual improvement and team success.

WABA welcome applications from both new & returning Coaches for all age groups, U10 to U18 Boys & Girls.

Skills day for u12s Boys and Girls.

Sign up to early and receive the early bird discount.

Early bird registrations for the U12 Country Skills Days are now open!

The 2026 Country Skills Days will be held on Saturday 25th July and Sunday 26th July at 10 regional academies across Victoria.

These Skill Day events are part of a development program for players of all abilities and standards from all associations located in regional Victoria. This will be an opportunity for identified athletes to be selected to participate in the U12 Country Jamboree in Echuca in September!

🏀 Casual Court Supervisor Wanted 🏀

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Court Supervisor to join our team on a casual basis.

📍 2-4 afternoons/evenings per week from 4.00pm
📍 Shifts between 3-4 hours
📍 Junior, senior and regional basketball competitions
📍 Bass Coast Community Stadium, Wonthaggi

The role involves:
• Opening and closing the stadium, including court set-up for games
• Supervising games and enforcing operational policies
• Supporting referees and coaches and assisting with parent/player enquiries
• Ensuring a safe and positive environment
• Helping competitions run smoothly and on time

Ideal applicants will:
• Be confident communicating with people of all ages
• Have a calm and approachable manner
• Be organised and dependable
• Have an interest in basketball or community sport
• Hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
• A current First Aid Certificate is desirable

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible casual work in a fun sporting environment.

🏀CONGRATULATIONS MAKAYLA🏀

Makayla recently attended Basketball Victoria’s U14 Junior Country Champs in Ballarat where she was selected to participate in an A Grade refereeing course.
We would like to congratulate Makayla on successfully completing the course and becoming an A grade referee 👏🏼👏🏼

This is a massive achievement at such a young age and is a great reward for Makayla’s hard work and dedication. She is a great leader and role model to our trainee, C grade and B grade referees.

Today we celebrated our 25-26 Rep season. Presentation day for all our Rep teams from U10s to U18s. Congratulations to all our award winners👏🏻👏🏻 A HUGE thank-you to all of our Coaches and Team managers, a massive job and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Special mention to our senior kids aging out of rep, congratulations and we wish you well. Looking forward to season 26-27. Go Coasters 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

The U12G finished off their Country Champs weekend in Bendigo with a come from behind win first up in the QF. Wonthaggi 39 def Portland 31.
The girls took on Leongatha in their semi final. After a strong start and a tight first half, our girls ran out of steam in the second half. Wonthaggi 25 def by Leongatha 40.
A huge thanks to Cathy for being so generous with your time and knowledge to coach the girls. They have improved out of sight this season and had lots of fun along the way. Go Coasters! 🏀

Game 3 Coasters 14 def by Horsham 42
Thanks to the U12B for their support to get us across the line against Bellarine!
Off to the Div 4 QFs tomorrow with an early start against the Coasters from Portland.
