One of the questions I hear all the time from pregnant mums is:

"Is it actually safe to exercise during pregnancy?"

The good news is that for most women, not only is exercise safe, it's one of the best things you can do to support your body during pregnancy.

In our recent MumSafe™ Masterclass with women's health physiotherapist Ashley Vincent, we talked about all the changes happening throughout pregnancy and why movement can make such a big difference.

As your body grows and changes, so do your posture, balance, energy levels and stability. It's no wonder so many mums experience aches, poor sleep, fatigue and uncertainty about what they should or shouldn't be doing.

The right type of exercise can help support your body through these changes and help you feel stronger, more comfortable and more confident as your pregnancy progresses.

Whether you've always exercised or you're only just getting started, pregnancy isn't about pushing harder. It's about moving in a way that supports your body and helps you feel your best.

And the best part? You don't have to figure it all out on your own.

Having the right guidance can help you feel confident knowing you're exercising safely while preparing your body for birth, recovery and motherhood.

As we head towards the end of Term 2 I'm opening trial sessions for my Term 3 classes.

If you'd like support from someone who understands the journey and can help you exercise safely through pregnancy and beyond, I'd love to help.

Was just about to finally get an upper body workout in - which is taking a lot of motivation these days TBH and then this happens !!! Normally it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world but I was home alone (with my boot and scooter) so it took me a lot longer to clean up that it normally would!
As a mum our workout schedule doesn't always to go as planned- sick kids, school pick up, sport drop offs, work, school admin (who else needs a PA to keep up?)
But no matter what it looks like - even doing a quick 15 min session is better than nothing! So I'm going now for a quick 30 min session in the garage before I get distracted !!

Any guess on how long the clean up took? Comment below!! 👇

The way you talk about your body in front of your kids matters more than you know.

We do not always realise we are doing it - the offhand comment in front of the mirror, the sigh when you try something on. The way you talk about what you ate or did not eat, the words you use when you look at old photos of yourself.

These moments feel small and insignificant in the moment but your kids are listening to every single one of them.

Children do not just learn about their own bodies from what we tell them. They learn from watching how we treat ours.

When they grow up hearing their mum speak about her body with frustration, criticism or shame, that becomes the voice they internalise about their own. And in a world that is already going to put enormous pressure on them about how they look, the last thing we want is for that voice to start at home.

It's not about being perfect, non of us are. There will be hard days and moments where the old habits creep back in but what we can do is start to notice, to pause before we speak, to slowly shift from talking about what our body looks like to talking about what our body does, what it carries, what it has been through, what it is capable of.

Your body grew and birthed a human - it feeds, holds and shows up for your children every single day. It deserves to be spoken about with the same kindness you would want your kids to have for themselves one day.

That is the heart of what we do at IN2Life Personal Training. We look after the whole you, not just the workout. If you want a trainer who genuinely understands the motherhood journey, send me a DM and we can organise a time to chat.

Every mum who trains with us deserves to be in a space where she is valued for what her body can do, not for how it looks or how much it weighs.

A space where the language is kind, the goals are meaningful and she leaves every session feeling better about herself than when she arrived.

That is the standard we hold ourselves to and we are not willing to lower it.

If that is the kind of trainer you have been looking for, we would love to welcome you for Term 3. Send me a DM or book in a trial today to see for yourself what it's like training at IN2Life Personal Training.

14 days as a hop-along 😜
What this injury is teaching me -

As a trainer and an active person I knew this journey of recovery was going to be a challenge so here is what I've learned this last fortnight
And for those of you who are mums with little ones I hope you can take some gold from this lessons I'm learning as well as they definitely apply!

1. LETTING GO OF PERFECTION - the house is not going to be perfect and I can no longer be in control of what that looks like - the washing is not going to be done the way I do it, the dishes are not going to be put away the way I like it, and the house may not be cleaned the way I it either & that is OK!! Letting go and letting other help is a powerful lesson!

2. BEING GRATEFUL - taking time to be grateful for all the people around me that are there to help - my hubby, my kids, friends, family, clients and my MumSafe Crew!
- taking time to be grateful for what I CAN do - being able to work, helping with small things around the house, still using my other leg, being able drive and take the kids to sport.

3. HAVING PATIENCE IN THIS SEASON- it's not going to last forever and I need to have patience in the process - taking it one day at a time.

4. REST & RECOVERY DOES NOT = BEING LAZY - it's an important part of the process and I need to listen to my body and rest when I can so that my body can heal and do what it needs to do to fully recover.

As I wrote this post, I thought back to when I was a new mum trying to do all the things and now as a mum of a teenager and almost 12 year old, these all still apply, have GRACE for yourself in whatever season you find yourself in and make sure you take time out to do the things you love for you !

Easy healthy veggie turkey bowl !
Lunch doesn't need to be complicated or take much time!
I was home at lunch so was able to prep this during the day but now have lunch for the next two days as well!
I grabbed some leftover veggies I had in the fridge from a salad the night before - red & green cabbage, capsicum, mushrooms & broccoli and put it with a grilled turkey breast and some brown rice!
YUM!

It does not have to be a structured workout. It does not have to happen at a gym or look a certain way. The habits that matter most are the ordinary ones that happen inside your home every single day.

It is stretching on the living room floor in the morning while the kids eat breakfast.

It's choosing to walk to the park instead of drive.

It's drinking water, getting outside for fresh air, moving your body in small ways throughout the day because you know it makes you feel better.

It is your kids watching you do all of it without you ever saying a word about it.

These moments do not feel significant in isolation but over time they build something.

A child who grows up in a home where movement is normal, where looking after yourself is valued, where health is part of everyday life rather than something reserved for a gym or a diet, that child carries those habits into their own life.

Mumma you are already doing more than you realise.

The moments you choose yourself even in a small way. Your kids are watching and they are learning from every single one of them.

The best kind of movement is the kind nobody is thinking of as a workout. 🙌

Some of the most powerful healthy habits we can build as a family have nothing to do with gym memberships or structured exercise routines. They happen on a walk after dinner when everyone is talking and laughing. They happen in the kitchen when a good song comes on and suddenly everyone is dancing. They happen at the park on a Saturday morning when the kids are running around and you are right there with them.

This is how healthy habits actually stick for kids. When movement feels like fun, like adventure, like just what our family does together, it becomes part of who they are and it becomes part of who we are too.

You do not need to carve out a separate hour for fitness when your whole lifestyle is built around staying active together. The after dinner walks, the backyard games, the bike rides, the beach days - all of it counts and all of it adds up over time in the most beautiful way.

That is what we celebrate at IN2Life Personal Training, not just the training, but the whole way you show up for your health and your family.

Hopefully the sun is shining tomorrow but whatever the weekend brings, enjoy some time being active together !
