U16 BOYS TACKLE IN 2027

We are extremely excited to announce our coaches for the U16 Boys tackle team at the Sharks in 2027 - Lewis and Jaxon Manukonga

These boys are Sharks legends and we are thrilled they’re keen to take the reins for this team in their last year of juniors - providing a great foundation for the transition to Sharks U18s the year after 🙌🏼

It’s been a few years since we’ve fielded a team in this age group at the Sharks so we’re stoked it’s back - to express your interest in joining the team for next season, please call Ben Cohen on 0421 438 485

VOLUNTEER AT THE SHARKS

Are you interested in being involved in the Club? We have plenty of opportunities available as we find ourselves at a point where delegation and new blood is necessary in the juniors - the very small handful of Committee members who are doing a majority of the work need support and reprieve so if you have the willingness to be involved we’d love to hear from you - all necessary training and support is provided.

If you want this club to continue to run, you need to step up! With 500+ players we’re in need of plenty more hands and help

Role opportunities;
✴️ Social Media Officer
✴️ Events & Fundraising crew members
✴️ Assistant Gear Stewards - work in the merch shop on game days
✴️ Assistant Gear Steward - be responsible for on and off field apparel stock management and team jersey handouts etc
✴️ Mini Coaching Coordinator (u6-9s teams)

2027 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Sharks Juniors are pleased to announce the members of our executive committee for next season. A big welcome to our newest member, Brad Jones who takes on the Registrar role - we look forward to working with Brad to get all our Sharks players and volunteers registered at what is the biggest Club in the Group 7 Junior Rugby League competition 👏🏼

We would also like to again thank and recognise the excellent work completed by Megan as she steps down from her many years in the Registrar role - Megan your commitment and contributions to this club are very appreciated and we’ll miss the Moane family from juniors!

RECOGNITION

Our club was pleased to be recognised at the inaugural Community Awards night hosted by The Shellharbour Club - receiving nominations in the Commitment award (Ben Cohen, Kristy Rowlands), Volunteer of the Year (Kristy Rowlands) and Organisation of the Year (Sharks Juniors RFLC) award categories 👏🏼

A wonderful event to celebrate volunteers in our community, we were delighted for Ben Cohen to be the very deserving recipient of the Commitment Award in recognition of his many years of service to the Sharks - Congratulations Ben! 🙌🏼

Members of our Exec team were proud to represent the Juniors on the night and thank everyone for contributing their time and efforts in making this Club the best it can be!

We appreciate The Shellharbour Club initiating this event to highlight the incredible contributions, hard work and commitment of volunteers across our local community 🫶🏼

COMMITMENT AWARD WINNER 🏆
Ben Cohen

Ben has been involved with the Shellharbour Sharks for the last 20 years. He played Senior football for nearly a decade before joining the Senior Club Committee in 2018, and then moving over to the Junior Club to coach his son’s team - later becoming Vice President and eventually President of juniors in 2022.

Ben has been instrumental in developing our players, and establishing our Club culture at the Sharks by valuing our rich club history, and focusing on a family-minded and community first approach. He offers unwavering loyalty to our club and promotes and encourages this within the Committee and all club members. Ben is always approachable and supportive and selflessly offers hours of his time to complete the work required to run a footy club - all while honouring his own work and family commitments. His dedication to ensuring our Club is the best practice model for a local sporting clubs is commendable.

Ben leads with his heart and role models such wonderful qualities for our kids and our families - he is such a proud Club member and so strongly believes in the good he is achieving by volunteering that he has even encouraged many of his friends to become involved at our club too!

As a parent, a club member, a supporter, a sponsor, a former President and current 2026 Junior Committee member, his contributions are countless and his legacy far-reaching. We are so proud to have Ben a part of our club and the local Shellharbour community and are grateful he has been recognised for the time and effort he has contributed in service to sport by winning this award.

2026 INTERNATIONAL PRESENTATION 🦈

A celebration of our U12 boys teams and our International (u13-16s) players was held on Friday, 2 October at our sponsor Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club

A huge congratulations to the players who received awards and recognition at Presentation, including our newest 10 year player inductees Dean Lofty and Oliver Hill - who received their prestigious 10 year player jackets provided by BORGZ Teamwear 🙌🏼

Dean and Curtis join Liam and Beau Monie, Liam Maksovic, Jai Tamayo, Ashanti Atallah, Nash Carter, Zavier Lopez, Levi Schuster and Liam Dowell as recipients of the 10 year player reward so congratulations all 👏🏼

We also recognised 36 of our u16 players who are leaving the juniors - we thankyou for being a part of our Club all these years, and hope you cherish your medallion mementos presented and that we’ll see you back playing with the Senior club in the future.

We were fortunate to have our outgoing Club Captain from the past 2 years, Cooper Moane on hand to say some beautiful words about our club and what the role has meant to him (thankyou Cooper) and pass the baton on to our new Club Captain, in Ashanti Atallah. An absolute pleasure to recognise Ashanti’s 11 year service to the Sharks and her positive attitude by naming her Club Captain we are delighted 👏🏼

Thankyou also to all of our Coaches, trainers and team managers for your contributions this season - the game wouldn’t happen without you. And a big thanks to our Committee members - your efforts are appreciated!
