HC Swim Club is a strong supporter of the Learn To Swim programs which are provided to the general public by the Collegiate Pool. Many of our club squad members have passed through the Collegiate Learn To Swim programs, prior to joining our Junior Squad. The Collegiate Pool offers Learn to Swim lessons Monday to Sunday. They have a well structured program that caters for all levels from beginner through to squad level, with the emphasis on stroke development. All classes are conducted by fully qualified AustSwim instructors. For more information about the Collegiate Learn To Swim programs, please visit the Collegiate Pool website (http://www.collegiate.org.au/content/index.php/collegiate/community/category/learn_to_swim).

At just 16 years of age, Ewan has qualified in the 50m Butterfly - a remarkable achievement!

Tessa has qualified in the 50m Breaststroke and will be racing on Wednesday at the Australian Swimming Trials.

Qualifying for Australia’s premier swimming event is a significant milestone, and we are incredibly proud to have two swimmers representing HC Swim Club on the national stage.

Great news! Our club is looking fantastic — a near-even split with 45% boys and 55% girls. Even better: we have 81 swimmers aged 11 and under currently in the program — an amazing base for the future. Huge thanks to our swimmers, coaches and families for all the hard work! 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️💙

Recently Coach Sam (along with Fiona) travelled to Kununurra working with the community at the outdoor pool. It looks like they had a great time and we look forward to continuing to work with Kununurra Crocs more moving forwards!

Here is an account of their trip from Coach Ben at Kununurra Crocs Swimming Club:

On Monday the 27th of April Coach Sam and Swim Teacher Fiona travelled to the Kimberley to run swim clinics and LTS lessons with the kids from Kununurra. Kununurra Crocs President Ben Broady say’s ‘I grew up swimming in this pool and have swam here for most of my life and have never seen such enthusiasm and and expertise on this pool deck ever. This collaboration between the Kununurra Crocs and HC Swim Club is the start of something special and we can’t wait to have the kids from Tassie up to visit the bush’. The group were also joined by Ultra Marathon Swimmer and multiple world record holder Andy Donaldson who help out with the clinics and did the demos for the coaches.

Our HC Swimmers (Ewan, Jacob and Oli) along with Coach Sam, closed out their national campaign yesterday. Congratulations on some great performances.

Our individual swimmers (Ewan and Jacob) both applied their training, swimming PBs in their events - an impressive achievement at this level.

Jacob broke two state records, making an A-final in the 50m Breaststroke and B-Final in the 100m Breaststroke. Ewan was part of the Tasmanian 4x50m Freestyle Relay team that broke their State Record and also swam a Commonwealth Games Trial qualifying time in his 50 Fly- an incredible achievement, even moreso given 12 months ago he narrowly missed the National Age qualifying time.

In addition to strong performances in the pool the boys showed impressive sportsmanship and camaraderie, supporting not only HC but all swimmers at the event.

None of this would have been possible without the guidance of Coach Sam at the event, along with the support of the coaching team, lead by Rachel back at home. Thank you to the coaches for their support.

Congratulations on some great performances!
