A big thank you to Crystal McKay and the ABC Hobart team for shining a spotlight on the Hobart PCYC Learner Driver Mentor Program - see article at: www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-07/tas-learner-drivers-waitlist-volunteer-shortage/106757348
Your coverage helps highlight both the incredible impact of the program and the growing need in our community.
Every young person deserves the opportunity to gain their licence, but for many, access to a supervising driver or vehicle is a real barrier. The work of PCYC Hobart is making a tangible difference – building confidence, independence and safer roads for everyone.
As the story highlighted, there is currently a shortage of volunteers, and the waitlist continues to grow. If you have a full drivers licence, some spare time, and a willingness to volunteer in support a learner driver, we would love to hear from you.

A Hobart program helping learner drivers get their provisional licence has a waitlist of more than 100 people.
