Alex and Bella headed to Melbourne for the AJO (12-16 April) each taking to the court daily.
Alex had a mixed run across the tournament, alternating between wins and losses, but every match gave him valuable time on court and the chance to sharpen his ability to handle pace.
He finished on a high, playing off for 22nd–23rd place in the U17 Australian Boys division. In a tough five-set battle, Alex dug deep and clinched the win, taking the final set 11–4. A strong finish and a great learning experience all round!
Bella entered the tournament as the 3rd/4th seed in the U17s and delivered an outstanding performance in her first U17 Australian Open. She had a clean run through the draw, showing composure and consistency in every match.
Bella advanced to the final against the number 2 seed from WA and rose to the occasion, claiming the U17 Australian Girls title in four sets.
A strong tournament all round, and a clear reflection of the hard work she’s been putting in. Exciting times ahead—we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
