Coach Croft

Coach Croft When I went looking for younger menopausal athletes and coaches who understood that experience, I came up empty.

Running + Strength Coach empowering Masters athletes + women navigating {peri}menopause to thrive in their training through personalized coaching + training plans
DM to start! I’m an endurance runner, RRCA-certified run coach, and GGS Menopause Strength coach based in Oklahoma, with a form-focused approach to running + strength training. After enduring multiple surgeries, medically induced menopau

se, and eventually a full hysterectomy due to Endometriosis, I found myself navigating endurance training in a body without its own hormones. So I built my own path back to stronger, faster, and more sustainable running—and turned that experience into the foundation of my coaching. My running journey began in 2009, much of it self-coached. I’ve raced across distances up to the marathon, but real progress didn’t come from simply doing more. It came from learning how to train smarter, move more efficiently, and respect the body I was actually in. That shift changed not only my performance, but my relationship with running. Today, I specialize in coaching Masters + Menopausal athletes, helping them build strength, confidence, and longevity in their training. I also enjoy working with runners of all backgrounds and experience levels who are ready to move beyond grind-based approaches and toward something more sustainable. My goal is to help athletes feel less alone in their journey, more capable in their bodies, and better equipped to pursue their goals with clarity and intention.

The Long Run Crisis Hotline is now open…

If one terrible long run has you reconsidering your race, your training, your coach, your Garmin, and possibly your entire personality, please eat something before making any major decisions.

Bad long runs can give us information, but they are terrible narrators. Mile 17 is not a licensed therapist, in spite of what some people say.

These aren’t easy things to learn. But we’re making it through… one way or another.

Me smiling politely while my internal monologue puts on steel-toe boots. If my face looks calm, that does not mean my thoughts are calm. It means the filter is in its final moments and we are all about to learn something.

Cold Takes, Part 2. Because you know I still have opinions 💁🏻‍♀️

This round is mostly dedicated to the fitness internet’s favorite pastime: taking something useful and turning it into a rigid rule everyone must follow immediately or risk forfeiting all future adaptations.

Lift heavy. Fuel your runs. Watch your recovery. Pay attention to HRV. Train toward your goal pace. All potentially useful advice. None of it exists without context, and none of it needs to become your entire personality.

Training is a collection of inputs, not a scavenger hunt for the ✨One✨ perfect protocol. You have to figure out which inputs make sense for the athlete, at this particular moment, for what they’re trying to accomplish.

Annoyingly nuanced, I know.

Anyway, here are some more cold takes from the chilly corner of the fitness internet.

Your training plan is not a loan shark. It will not come looking for those 8 miles you missed last Tuesday.

Life load went ⬆️. Training load went ⬇️. We adjust accordingly and carry on with our extracurricular activities.

You do not owe your training plan back pay.

The estrogen may be inconsistent, the knees may make noises, and bedtime may now be 8:47, but the spirit of Lil Jon remains undefeated.

Apparently this is what “aging gracefully” looks like. I don’t make the rules.

Life is gonna life, whether it checked VDOT (or Final Surge or TrainingPeaks) first or not.

Running gets to be the thing that adds something to our lives, not another obligation demanding something from us.

If you read nothing else, here’s your reminder: The race is one expression of the work. It was never the whole damn point.

August, apparently. No plot, questionable continuity, several side quests, and somehow we’ve almost made it to the credits.
