Zale Parry, a diving pioneer, passed away today. Zale dove and taught diving before BCD's existed! You can see her in Sea Hunt, season 1, episode 33: Dead Man's Cove, if you want to see a diving legend- and how easy we have diving now!

"Women Divers Hall of Fame is deeply saddened by the passing of Zale Parry, a member of our inaugural class of 2000 and a woman whose courage, curiosity, and determination help shape the history of scuba diving.
Long before opportunities for women in diving were common, Zale was breaking barriers. She set records, helped establish one of the first civilian hyperbaric chambers in California, became one of the earliest female scuba instructors, and inspired countless people through her underwater photography, television, appearances, and lifelong passion for exploring in the underwater world.
More than her accomplishments, Zale will be remembered for the door she opened for those who followed. Her legacy lives on and every woman who dares to explore, discover, teach, and lead beneath the surface.
