I remember when I first started growing my locs; I said, I would never grow an attachment to them and I would never allow them to become attached to my identity.

Well, that was a big fell. I totally underestimated how, with each inch of growth, a significant memory or experience attached itself to my locs.

My locs literally represented me and everything I’ve been through for the past 24 years.

As I enter this new chapter in my life, my locs just didn’t serve me anymore. Cutting them was liberating and scary at the same time. I am literally entering into the unknown.

Cutting my locs also represents my intention to live my truth unapologetically. It’s exciting and scary at the same time, but how amazing is it that I can!!!
