Some of you know her, some of you do not. She has been around for many years and worked throughout the state of Washington. Beginning as an athlete and advancing to a teacher, counselors, therapist, coach, peer, friend and mentor. (Welcome to the life of a coach). After finishing a great amateur career, her heart landed in on helping the next generation reach greatness. She had tried other gyms, but landed on HHBoxFit where she was able to train under the tutelage of Chauncy “The Hillyard Hammer” Welliver and Jacob “Nip” Ruffin. She knew she wanted to coach and she was immediately great at it. Coach Chauncy and Coach “Ruff” asked Nicole to take on a few of the amateur new comers and she turned them into winners quickly. Her approach was to explain the importance of hard work, but to heavily focus on mastering the fundamentals. What we call the basics. These young men and women she took under her wing quickly flourished, but as so often happens in this sport; as the youth age, they move on and find interest in other ventures. This didn’t stop Nicole. Although the team began to disciapte she continued to love and pursue the sport. Eventually, her advancement in personal goals and career took her away from BoxFit but not away from the sport she grew to love. Nicole bounced around a couple gyms while also dealing with some life changes and becoming a single mom. During this time Nicole graduated college with a degree in education. Finding a way to make a difference in youth who don’t love sports as we do but need great life guides and coaches. Eventually, and the reason for this post, Nicole found her way into a position to conquer both dreams to lead kids to greatness and lead boxers to championship acknowledgements. USA Boxing is the be- all end-all of youth boxers. 18 and under have no choice but to participate in USA boxing or they don’t compete. Recently they decided to honor Nicole as one of the top coaches in the states today. That’s right all across America there are thousands of coaches. She has been labeled as one of the best. We want to say congratulations to this young women whom got her chance to lead at our gym and has turned it into an amazing and promising career in the sport.
Here’s to Nicole Natalie and her future in the sport of Boxing.
