Paramount L0500 Overhead Press

Some machines are common. Others become so scarce that even longtime collectors rarely encounter them.

The Paramount L0500 Overhead Press is one of those machines.

This isn’t another FW or A.R.T. series machine. The original factory identification plate confirms this is Model L0500, manufactured by Paramount Fitness Corporation in Los Angeles, California.

What makes it special isn’t just its age—it’s how little information remains. Despite extensive research through archived catalogs, manuals, and collector resources, we have not found a digitized factory brochure or owner’s manual for the L0500. That makes surviving examples especially interesting to collectors of vintage commercial gym equipment.

The L0500 features independent plate-loaded press arms, a natural overhead pressing arc, an adjustable seat, a fixed back pad, and unique rotating roller-style grip sleeves that allow your hands to move naturally throughout the press.

How rare is it?

While no verified production numbers have surfaced, we can say this with confidence:

🏋️ EQUIPMENT SPOTLIGHT: Saxon Squat

Some of the rarest machines in the strength world were never mass-produced. The **Saxon Squat** is one of them.

Designed by equipment innovator **Steve Tylee**, the Saxon Squat was created to provide a more upright, controlled squat pattern while heavily emphasizing the quadriceps. Its guided vertical carriage, front squat shoulder pad, and built-in shin support eliminate much of the balance required in a traditional squat, allowing lifters to focus purely on driving through the legs.

Steve Tylee is well known in the hardcore equipment community for designing machines like the EuroSquat, GlutePress, and GluteRaze. He also worked closely with Randy Coyle, helping distribute and promote the legendary Swing Squat. That’s how we were fortunate enough to acquire both our original Randy Coyle Swing Squat and this Saxon Squat directly through Steve.

One of the most interesting parts of this machine is its rarity. When we purchased ours in 2019, we were told our shipment was one of only **five units** available at the time. While we can’t confirm whether additional production runs were built later, authentic Saxon Squats are exceptionally difficult to find today and almost never appear on the secondary market.
