Swim Team The Pacific Coast Marlins is a year-round USA Swim team in San Rafael, Marin County, California.

We provide a healthy approach to competitive swimming by guiding and supporting all our swimmers, regardless of their abilities, as they strive to reach their potential. We offer the opportunity to learn valuable and transferable life lessons while learning proper techniques and challenging oneself to attain a higher level of fitness and performance.

Marlins end every season with the Redwood Empire Swim League Championships or RESL’s. Caroline and Marlon represented Marlins this season and definitely put on a show. Small team with a big impact. Caroline was able to make finals in the 100 Free and 50 Fly and Marlon was an alternate for 50 Back and 50 Breast. Although he was not able to swim, he stepped up and was available to swim if needed and provided Caroline with some team cheer. No matter what the results in the finals, the two of them showed off their hard work over the season with some amazing swimming, especially the 100 Free, taking off several second each.
Now to look forward to our 2026/2027 swim season.

Our Home meets are always so much fun and great to watch how well the swimmers are coming along. Marlins ended up with 23 swimmers competing in 83 individual events. It was a very new kind of meet as there were 7 new swimmers. Welcome to swim meets Knox, Tala, Laney, Maddie, Violet, Veda, and Tyler. Not only did we have 7 new swimmers, but another 10 swimmers tried new events. Way to go Avery, Sadie, Luca, Cade, Maggie, Caroline, Gigi, Sophie, Luna, and Emma. Marlins had 65 best times, which gives the team a 78% improvement. I just saw some really great swimming.

The weather definitely has shifted in the last few days and so comes the end of our winter session. Marlins went out with a bang with a short and quick home meet. Probably the fastest on record with only taking about 30 minutes of race time!
It was so great to see all the swimming and it really looked amazing. Marlins ended up with 8 swimmers that all swam in 4 events each. So a total of 32 events. We didn’t swim relays as there was so much swimming happening in a short time. Out of the 32 events, there were 25 best times giving the team a 78% improvement. We had one new swimmer, welcome to swim meets Devereux! And congratulations to Marlon for trying a 200 free for the first time.
A great day to end the winter sessions and welcome in new Marlins in the Spring/Summer session starting on Monday.

It is so hard not to love and enjoy our home meets. I am always so impressed with all the effort and great swimming throughout the meet. Our first home meet of the season did not disappoint. We ended up with 22 swimmers that did 79 events not to include the relays. Most swimmers did a relay too. Out of the 79 swims, we had 61 best times giving the team a 77% improvement…Much better than I thought being the beginning of the season. Great starting point to go from! There were 6 new marlin swimmers (though I know 4 of them have done meets before), welcome to Marlins swim meets, Vera, Jack, Gigi, JJ, Axel, and Audrey. All of our returning Marlins didn’t have it easy as there were 13 new swims. Everyone stepped up out of their comfort zone and showed off some great swimming.
My favorite stat of the meet, we have a new Team Record. Congratulations Axel who now holds the 8 & under boys 50 breast stroke record of 49.54.

We had 10 Marlins brave the cold rain to swim in 35 different events. NBA had about the same, so the meet went quickly and we skipped the relays. I was quite impressed with the 21 best times. It can be hard to be at your best when you are trying to stay warm. But yes, the team had 60% improvement in the elements. Caroline & Sophie swam their first meet as a 9-year-olds so tried many new events having to swim a 50 instead of a 25. (Karolina’s first meet as a 9 year old too, but she went to 50’s as an 8 year old). All in all, a great start to 2025 swim meets.

What a day for a home meet. Anyone who was here last year remembers how cold and rainy it was. Which is why I didn’t decide to do this meet until Monday. For a last minute meet, it was a great turn-out. Marlins ended up with 15 swimmers, 2 which were junior marlins that have been out of the water for the last month.
We started out with a full team relay and this was probably my favorite part of the meet (of course besides all the great swimming). All groups working together for a Medley Relay. And it was a close race throughout. After the relay, the swimmers had 59 events among them. Out of the 59 individual events there were 37 best times giving the team an improvement of 62%. 6 swimmers tried new events and for the first time, I don’t think anyone backed out of an event that they were added into. Everyone swam all events and put everything into it. Can’t ask for much more than that which is why we ended the day (or at least the meet) with well deserved donut. Great job Marlins.

What a beautiful day for the Annual Spooky Plunge Swim Meet. NBA joined us again for a day of pumpkins and decorations. Transformed into a butterfly, I got front row seat into the action. Marlins ended up with 31 swimmers that swam 94 events. That was just individual events. Most swimmers swam in 1-2 relays in addition to their events.
9 new Marlins tried out the swim meet, welcome to meets, Emma, Soren, Charlotte, Olivia, Ava, Ayda, Maggie, Quinn, and Leo. 4 Additional Marlins tried new events today, great job Hollis, Zade, Caroline, and Zoey.
Out of the 94 individual events, we had 64 best times. Which means Marlins improved 68%. Not bad for a day of pumpkin swimming. (I am sure the candy high may have helped!).
Want more racing, you can still sign up for Rohnert Park Nov. 9-10 or Santa Rosa Dec. 14-15. We may still put on one more home meet as well. Stay tuned!

The best part of my day, seeing all the results and giving a little summary. Marlins lucked out with no rain though it was a bit chilly. But with only 10 swimmers (NBA had less than 15 as well) we were able to stay in the pool for warmth. Our 10 swimmers swam 33 events not including the relays. Everyone also did at least one of the relays, most did both. We even had two new swimmers, welcome to swim meets Juliette & Rose. Avery also conquered a new swim the 50 free. Always great to try new things. There were 23 best times giving the team a 69% improvement.
The numbers are great to see, but seeing the swimming (what swimming I could see) and the amount of improvement in the strokes is what really is fun about these home meets. Great Job Marlins.

School is close to being out, so Marlins put together a small meet to show off our skills. And what a great way to start the summer, or almost summer. We ended up with 23 swimmers swimming in 81 events. And that doesn’t include relays. We had some fun with the relays and mixed the whole team up for the medley relays. It was fun seeing the different groups swim together as a team.
Out of the 81 events, the team had 58 best times giving the team a 71% improvement. And you could see it in the swimming. 4 swimmers had never tried a meet before, welcome Jane, Sadie, Lauren & Blake. 9 of the events were swum for the first time.
The swimmers definitely were showing off all of their hard work. They all looked great out there. Looking forward to a summer full of more swimming and improvement.
