Kicking things off with our teacher introductions is the one who started it all, our amazing studio owner and fabulous instructor, Joanie Mix! 💙🧡

What styles of dance do you teach? I teach all styles of dance :) however my favorite style to teach is Jazz.

How long have you been teaching? 28 years!

Fun fact: Music is my biggest inspiration! I’m happiest soaking up the sun and enjoying all things summer. I’m an animal lover and always down for pizza.

Attention Rochester, MN dancers ‼️ Emerson Domnick will be holding drop-in master classes for dancers ages 13+, on the dates listed below, from 12-1pm.

July 11th (jazz)
July 18th (hip hop)
August 15th (contemporary)
August 22nd (jazz funk)

Each class will cost $15 per dancer! Cash or Venmo to -Domnick.

Be sure to bring water, sneakers for hip hop and jazz funk, and wear an outfit you feel comfortable dancing in! We can’t wait to see you there! 💙🧡

June 1–2, 2026

Ready to take the stage with us?!

🖤 Team Auditions: Monday, June 1st
This year, auditions for all interested dancers will be held by ballet class level.

🖤 Solo/Duo/Trio Auditions: Tuesday, June 2nd, 4:00-8:00pm

✨ New dancers interested in joining who do not currently attend The Dance Lab will audition by age group.

All auditioning dancers MUST complete the online Performance Team Audition Application + sign-up form.
These forms will help determine which audition time you should attend. Click the audition information link in the comments!

Please complete both online forms by 12:00 PM on Monday, June 1st to be eligible to audition for next year’s team!

Your leadership, laughter, and love will be deeply missed. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. We are beyond proud of the incredible young adults you’ve become. Our last Dance Lab senior spotlight is Daisy Schmidt ✨

When did you start dancing/how long have you been dancing? “I started dancing when I was 3 years old, so I have been dancing for 15 years!”

What’s the most important thing dance taught you? “To express myself regardless of what other people think.”

What are your future plans? “To enjoy life to its fullest, by traveling all around the world and following in Gods footsteps!”

Recital #1 ✅

What a fun and exciting first show for our 2026 10th anniversary recital weekend! Although we hit a road bump (⚡️)… the show went on! Cant thank the dancers, teachers and family’s enough for all the support and cheering! 1 down… 3 to go 🥳
