It was a great day yesterday to Fly Fish Bennett Springs and Niangua River. Not only were the Trout eager to take a fly but I was joined on this trip by our 13 year old son James. He is getting better and better every time he goes with me Fly Fishing. James and myself Caught and Released a lot of Trout yesterday. I had several in the 2 1/2 pound to 4 pound range. The Trout are healthy and hungry for the right Flies.
We only needed 2 Flies yesterday

Get out and take a kid fishing. Not only will it be more memorable for you but they will remember it forever. Pass on the Sport of Fly Fishing or just Fishing to the next generation.

We finally made it to Fly Fish Meramac Springs and the Meramac River. It is a nice park, with lots of Trout but the Meramac River is where it’s really at to fish. Caught and Released so many Rainbow and Brown Trout that it was hard to take pictures. They were Great fighting and acrobatic Trout. If your wanting to Fly Fish and your in the St James area forget the Trout Park and head straight to the Meramac River.
I make my own leaders from Segar Red Label Flouracarbon. My leader set up for this trip was about 10’ long. Consisting of 5’ of 10 pound,3’ of 6 pound, 1’ of 4 pound to my point fly and a 1’ of 4 pound to my dropper. It was the perfect set up for the river where I was Nymphing.
Only needed and used 2 flies for this adventure.

We are in St James Missouri and went to Rich’s Famous Burgers for supper. Not only is the food great the prices and service are top notch. If you are in the area and looking for a Great place to eat. Stop in and you won’t be disappointed. There are multiple locations in the surrounding areas. Also if you go to the St James location, hopefully you will be as lucky as us and get Tiffany for your waitress.

Another Great day on the Niangua River. This time my Amazing Wife was with me and took pictures. We were up river today, where Bennett Springs runs into the Niangua. The Fly Fishing was just as good and fast as yesterday. There is a lot of Rainbow Trout in the river right now and they are all healthy and fat. Had several make multiple jumps. In the last 2 days of Catch and Release I have educated over 150 Trout in the Niangua River. I was using the same 2 Flies as Yesterday.

Spent a Great Day at the Niangua River outside of Bennett Springs today. The Niangua is full of Really Nice Rainbow Trout. With all of the heavy rains they had helped put some healthy Rainbow Trout in the River. It was a mixed bag today, which is always Great. It was 79 degrees and partly or mostly cloudy with a 10 to 20 mile wind. Caught and Released a substantial amount of fish today. They all mainly came to a

Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to go Fly Fishing this last week, so no updates on where and what Flies are doing great. It has been a busy week here in the shop with fly orders coming in and also several Custom Fly Rod Orders. Unlike most fly shops that have multiple people tieing flies for them or employees to cover. Here at DNL Custom Fly Rods and Flies everything that comes from my shop is done by me. I tie all of the Flies, Build all of the Custom Fly Rods, Teach Fly Casting and any Guide Trip that is booked will be me Guiding you. My Quality is Flawless and I only want the Best for My Customers.
