A team is a group of people who decided they were better together than alone.

A team holds you to a higher standard. They call you out when you’re slipping. They pick you up when you’re flat. They want you to win as bad as they want to win themselves.

I’ve been part of teams my whole life. On the fireground. In the gym. With my staff at EverProven.

Hot take…It’s OK to make money. It’s OK to be successful. And it’s OK to want more for yourself and your family than what you started with.

Somewhere along the way, financial success became something people feel like they need to apologize for. Like if you’re doing well, you must have cut corners, stepped on people, or got lucky. That’s a narrative I don’t buy.

I’ve watched people pour everything they have into building something ..time, energy, sacrifice, late nights, early mornings …and then feel guilty when it actually works. That’s backwards.

Here’s what I believe: money is a tool. That’s it. What matters is what you do with it and how you got it.

Did you build something that genuinely helps people? Did you show up, do the work, and earn it? Did you treat people right along the way? Then own it. Don’t shrink from it.

The gym I’ve built, the team I’ve hired, the lives we’ve impacted ..none of that happens without revenue. None of it. You can’t pay coaches a living wage, you can’t invest in your space, you can’t give back to your community if you’re broke. Financial health and mission aren’t opposites. They’re the same thing.

Success with a good moral compass isn’t something to hide. It’s something to model.

The goal shouldn’t be to have less. The goal should be to do more good with what you build.

Go make money. Help people. Be someone worth looking up to.

I train because I have to. Not because it’s always easy or because I always want to.

I’m a coach. A gym owner. A firefighter. And some days I’m just as tired as everyone else walking through that door.

But I have to be capable to carry people out of burning buildings. I coach athletes I want to inspire. I have a family watching me either take care of myself or not.

The barbell doesn’t care about any of that. The clock doesn’t either. And honestly? That’s why I keep coming back.

Olympic lifts. Deadlifts. Squats. CrossFit. This stuff has kept me sharp, kept me capable, and kept me honest for 20 years.

I’m not special. I just keep showing up. That’s it.

That was a lie I told myself to feel better about avoiding it.

The truth? Pressure is where I do my best work. Doubt makes me sharper. A hard path means I’m in the right fight.

The grind isn’t something to survive. It’s the whole point.

If things feel heavy right now, good. That’s not a sign to quit. That’s a sign you’re building something real.

I’m going to say something that might p**s some people off.

Fitness is healthcare. Not a hobby. Not a luxury. Healthcare.

90% of what we spend on healthcare in this country goes to managing chronic disease. Largely preventable chronic disease. And I’ve watched both parties take pharma money with one hand and point fingers at each other with the other. They are gutting public health programs. Some leaders are talking about seed oils while the food system stays completely broken. Nobody is doing a damn thing about the actual cause.

I’ve been a firefighter for 20 years. You know what kind of calls we run? Medical calls. The same story on repeat. Sick people. Chronically sick people. And most of it was preventable.

Here’s the truth nobody wants to say out loud: the system is not designed to make you healthy. It’s designed to manage your decline and bill you for it.

Nobody is coming to save you. Not the left. Not the right. Not your insurance company. Not the politician you voted for.

Your health is your responsibility. And the best decision you can make right now is to stop waiting for someone to fix it and find people who take that seriously alongside you.

Having Ala moral compass is the whole foundation of who you are.

Because at some point, in your business, your career, your relationships, you’re going to hit a decision where the easy path and the right path are not the same thing.

And in that moment, you either have something anchoring you or you don’t.

Without it, people start rationalizing. Cutting corners. Treating people like transactions. Doing what’s convenient instead of what’s right. And it works, for a while.
But it always catches up.

The compass doesn’t have to be complicated. Mine is simple. Would I be proud of this if everyone I respect could see it?
If the answer is no, I already know what to do.

Know what you stand for before you’re under pressure to abandon it. That’s the work.
Because without that, everything else you’re building is on sand.

Got an Egg McMuffin this morning. Zero regrets.
17g of protein, 300 calories, and I was out the door in 3 minutes. That’s a win on a busy day.
I talk about nutrition a lot. But what I talk about MORE is sustainability. A plan that falls apart the second real life shows up isn’t a plan.
One “imperfect” meal doesn’t break you. Thinking it does, and then spiraling, that’s what breaks you.
Eat well most of the time. Train consistently. Give yourself some grace.
Balance isn’t a cheat code. It’s the whole point.

AI absolutely roasted me.

I asked AI the following:

“Show me what I would look like if I didn’t workout 5x per week. If instead of eating clean and healthy food 80% of the time I lived off of fast food, frozen food, gas station food, junk food, chugged sugary energy drinks and soda all the time. I spent 6 hours of my day behind a desk and only averaged 4000 steps per day instead of 12,000.”

Im 41, so what if after high school that’s what my life looked like?”

I’m thankful for the daily deposits over the last 20+ years. Sometimes I forget what life could be like if I chose to quit.
