Last night’s showdown at the Good Will Fire Co. was an absolute whopper! We had 36 enthusiastic bag slingers show up to see if they had what it takes to stand on our highly prestigious, completely imaginary podium while holding some cold, hard cash. Now, some people might tell you that Tuesdays at MCC are just about getting out, having fun with friends, and making new friends. To that, we say: just kidding. We are strictly here for the glory!
Unfortunately for 34 of last night's competitors, the mighty Joe T. was fully on his game. But let’s set the stage for how it all went down. With 36 players in the house, the big question was whether we'd run one bracket or two, and whether we'd enforce round limits. Much to the dismay of Buckshot, we went with a single bracket and full, unrestricted games to 21! No way were we going to be hindered by a mere limit of 10 rounds, especially not last night. Once the epic round-robin wrapped up, it was KillA🦍 scaling the leaderboard to take the top spot with a spectacular 10.26 PPR.
Of course, we have to talk about the real menace of Bridgeport. At this point, the airmail pipe isn't just beating us, it is straight-up taking our money and laughing right in our faces as it continues its ruthless dominance of denying every single challenger. The vault remains locked tight!
When tournament action kicked into high gear, the duo of Joe T. and K R. absolutely blasted through the field to secure the coveted King Seat. While they rested, the rest of us were left to brutally fight our way through the trenches of the losers' bracket. In a hard-fought third-place game, Hugo and Bo managed to take down KillA🦍 and Leo with a tight 21-18 victory. That set up a phenomenal championship rematch: Joe T. and K R. versus the challengers, Hugo and Bo.
Hugo and Bo came out swinging and decided to immediately test the royalty, easily taking Game 1 by a score of 21-7 to force the final match. But the rematch was a completely different story. The grand finale turned into a marathon of pure bag-slinging drama, going a full 22 rounds right down to the absolute wire. In a heart-stopping 21-20 finish, Joe T. and K R. managed to clutch it out and take home the crown!
A massive thank you to everyone who braved the brackets and came out last night. Rest up those arms, and we will see you all next week for more chaos
