Weekend Preview ⚫⚪

A new week, a fresh challenge, and three senior sides ready to get after it.

Our Men's First XI head south to take on Hawera AFC, looking to bounce back and keep themselves firmly in the hunt at the top end of the table.

The Women's First XI face a huge Duchess Cup challenge away to Moturoa. These are the games you look forward to all season and the women will be eager to test themselves against one of the competition's strongest sides.

Back at home, our Reserves return to action against FC Western. Fresh off their first win of the season and a 7-0 performance last weekend, the lads will be full of confidence and looking to build some momentum.

Three games. Three opportunities.

A Tough Weekend, But Plenty To Build On

Last weekend served up a couple of hard pills to swallow for our senior sides.

Our Men's First XI fell short against Eltham in a top-of-the-table clash. It was a result that hurts, especially given what was at stake, but there is still plenty of football to be played and the group remains firmly in the hunt.

Our Women's First XI also faced a tough afternoon on the road, going down 4-2 to Stratford. Despite the result, the squad continues to show great character and will be looking to bounce back quickly.

The silver lining came from our Men's Reserves, who produced a performance to remember. After a difficult start to the season, the lads secured their first win in emphatic fashion, putting seven goals past Eltham in a dominant 7-0 victory.

Results don't always go your way in football, but resilience is built during the difficult moments. The challenge now is to respond, keep improving, and get back to work this week.

Congratulations to the Reserves on a deserved first win of the season. Let's carry that momentum into the weekend ahead.

We would like to acknowledge and pass on our deepest condolences to the loved ones of one of our very own life members - Gordon McLennan (Gordie), who passed away sadly on Saturday 13th June 2026.
Gordon McLennan has been a member of our Waitara Soccer Club since the early 1980’s. Gordie has trained a countless number of players, mainly in the junior and youth grades. He just loved to encourage everyone to have a go a sport. He also coached a number of teams over the years. He loved to go down and watch as many games as he could.
During the years of developing the grounds at Manukorihi Park and building our club rooms, Gordie attended all the working bee’s and was our No 1 painter in charge. In the late 1980’s Gordon was awarded Life Membership to our club, a very well earned and deserved achievement. Gordon was an absolute true gentleman and was highly respected by all our club members.
We will miss you Gordie. Rest in peace dear friend. (Thank you to Coralie Pringle for sharing her kind words about her fellow life member)

Gordie’s memorial get together will be at the Waitara Fire Station on Saturday 20th June at 2pm

Heres a look back on last weekends results, Unfortunate Win-by-Default for our ladies as the season kicks into things with abit of stop start action.

Our Mens First XI showed great composure after going to 2-0, managing to secure the all important 3 points as the top of the table is in sight.

Meanwhile another tough day in the office for our Mens Reserve squad, we go again tomorrow!

Eltham make the trip to Manu Park for both mens sides with our ladies on the road to stratford!

Wherever you find yourself this weekend, make sure to show that Waitara Pride however you can!

🌦️ Weather Watch Update – Junior/Youth Saturday 6th June🌦️

Following advice from Council and reviewing the upcoming weather forecast, a decision has been made to cancel all Taranaki Junior and Youth football fixtures.

We appreciate this will be disappointing for players coaches and supporters, we believe this is the most appropriate course of action given the current conditions and forecast

An update regarding Local Men's football fixtures will be provided by 9am on Saturday morning.
