Results from the weekend
Our 1st XI had a close loss against Wakatu in their must win game for a T20 playoff, losing by 8 runs. In what was a 13 over match due to agonising officiating, Wakatu managed 100 runs in their 13 overs which was more or less a par score for the conditions. J. North the pick of the bowlers despite not picking up many wickets. In return, the chase was relatively controlled sitting at around 7s and 8s for most overs, however a middle to later order crumble, alongside the pressure of RPO saw NC all out, needing 9 off 3 balls.
The 2nd XI had a clinical win against Stoke-Nayland 2nd XI. Keeping the hosts to under 130 at Marsden Rec was a good achievement due to tight bowling and an energised fielding unit. The chase was calculated with M. de Vries and C. Finch the main contributors. The boys now have a T20 semi-final against WTTU at Jubilee Park this weekend from 3pm!
The Falcons won their final match of the season to finish 7th in the menβs 3rd grade competition. C. McCosker and C. Balasuriya picked up 3 wickets each which helped restrict Stoke-Nayland to 164. D. McCosker finished with 51* to help see the team home with 6 overs remaining.
Junior Blue were too strong for Junior Sky, with B. Jennings and W. Smith both retiring with half centuries. Posting 199, Sky unfortunately couldnβt get going on this occasion, all out for just over 50.
Itβs all about our 2nd XI and Junior Blue, who are both still in the hunt for some silverware this Summer for Nelson College in the Nelson Cricket competitions! GO NC! π
