Let’s go Junior Blue!

It’s just our Junior Blue side in the youth 4th grade final this weekend as we close off the 2025/6 season!

The boys have had a wonderful season, coached by Simon Mardon. The team have played 12 games this season, winning 10 of them and place 1st= on the table with the Atoms who also finished on 40 points.

Get on down to Ben Cooper Park and support our boys in the final!

It’s semi-finals time as our 2nd XI take on WTTU Bengals at Jubilee Park in the men’s 2nd grade T20 competition!

With an unchanged line up from last weekend, the boys will be looking to get the WTTU voodoo of their back and get the job done this weekend.

Last year our 2nd XI were beaten finalists in the same T20 competition. Will our boys go all the way in 2026!? Go well gents, head to Jubilee Park from 2.30pm to support them.

In our youth scene we have both sides playing in the final round of the 4th/5th grade competition. Blue are currently in 1st equal and are looking to take 1 of the spots in the straight final next weekend. Good luck to both Blue and Sky - Finish strong!

Get on down and support our 3 remaining teams playing Saturday Cricket folks!

And good luck to our 2 sides taking on Waimea College tomorrow (Friday) at Green Meadows.

Good luck to the 1st XI heading north to Levin on Sunday.

NC v WC!

We have a couple of great games on tomorrow at Green Meadows as Nelson College takes on Waimea College for a 2nd XI and junior match.

It’s a great chance to get our next crop some local School Cricket and see some our new year 9s who have just joined Nelson College.

It should be a great day out! β˜€οΈ

Results from the weekend

Our 1st XI had a close loss against Wakatu in their must win game for a T20 playoff, losing by 8 runs. In what was a 13 over match due to agonising officiating, Wakatu managed 100 runs in their 13 overs which was more or less a par score for the conditions. J. North the pick of the bowlers despite not picking up many wickets. In return, the chase was relatively controlled sitting at around 7s and 8s for most overs, however a middle to later order crumble, alongside the pressure of RPO saw NC all out, needing 9 off 3 balls.

The 2nd XI had a clinical win against Stoke-Nayland 2nd XI. Keeping the hosts to under 130 at Marsden Rec was a good achievement due to tight bowling and an energised fielding unit. The chase was calculated with M. de Vries and C. Finch the main contributors. The boys now have a T20 semi-final against WTTU at Jubilee Park this weekend from 3pm!

The Falcons won their final match of the season to finish 7th in the men’s 3rd grade competition. C. McCosker and C. Balasuriya picked up 3 wickets each which helped restrict Stoke-Nayland to 164. D. McCosker finished with 51* to help see the team home with 6 overs remaining.

Junior Blue were too strong for Junior Sky, with B. Jennings and W. Smith both retiring with half centuries. Posting 199, Sky unfortunately couldn’t get going on this occasion, all out for just over 50.

It’s all about our 2nd XI and Junior Blue, who are both still in the hunt for some silverware this Summer for Nelson College in the Nelson Cricket competitions! GO NC! πŸ†

It’s the final round of T20 competition for our 1st and 2nd XI, with both teams looking for playoffs.

The 1st XI have a must win match against Wakatu, whilst also looking for a certain result in another match. The 2nd XI should stay in the top 4 of their competition, although a win guarantees a place whilst building momentum.

The Senior XI Falcons play for 7th place in the 3rd grade competition whilst the Raptors finished their season last week with a tight loss to pick up the spoon! Despite a lot of losses, the boys had a great season and developed a lot in the process.

In the youth grade our 2 x NC sides go up against each other, playing at Botanics. Blue are looking to stay in the top 2 and go straight to the final whilst Sky May potentially still get there with a win on Saturday and a result or 2 going their way.

Good luck to all our sides! And thank you again to our sponsors for your support 🏏🏏🏏

CENTRAL DISTRICTS πŽπ•π„π‘ πŸ“πŸŽπ¬ 🏏 How good to see this visual symphony of green as the first ever CENTRAL DISTRICTS OVER 50 teams compete at the 2025/26 New Zealand Over-50s Cricket Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) in Wellington πŸ‘β€

Previously, CD & ND over-50s players entered the nationals as a combined 'Districts Evergreens' team, but this season's IPT is the first time there have been 6 teams based around all 6 of the Major Associations regions.

Best of all, both the CD Over-50s Division One & Division Two teams opened their accounts with their first ever win, a 10-wicket victory in Div 1 over Otago & a 30-run win over Otago in Div 2. Best of luck for the rest of the nationals, fellas. Follow along here πŸ‘‰ https://www.playhq.com/new-zealand-cricket/org/veterans-cricket-new-zealand/summer-202526/f4e058e8
