We just had a huge weekend for coastal rowing in NZ: the Beach Sprints NZ Summer Series got underway on Orewa Beach, while 3 Kiwis were racing (and winning!) on the other side of the world at the Prince Albert Challenge Cup in Monaco. Big fun all round 😁
New Zealand's coastal rowing scene is showing impressive momentum, highlighted by Sacred Heart coxswain Ryan Slater's recent victory in Monaco alongside elite competitors, including Olympic champion Karolien Florijn.
The sport's inclusive nature and dynamic atmosphere are proving major drawcards, with Beach Sprints New Zealand Event Director David Vallance noting that "everyone's connected" in the intimate beach setting.
Upcoming events at Papamoa and Titahi Bay promise to maintain the sport's upward trajectory here in Aotearoa, with world champion Emma Twigg set to share her expertise at a training camp ahead of the national championships.
