Remimder tomorrow for our Juniors :)

Junior tennis season is just a day away from starting, and we are looking forward to having everyone together again on the courts.

Sunday morning coaching will run from 20 September for two weeks. We will then take a break for the school holidays and restart on the 18th October. There will be no coaching on the 25th October (Labour Weekend). The times and sessions are as below:-

9-9.45 am 5-8 years Beginners (Red Ball - bigger ball, small courts)

9.45 - 10.30 am 7-10 years - Intermediate/2nd year playing (Orange Ball)

10.30 - 11.15 am 11+ beginners and Interclub Fundamentals (Preparing for interclub - Green Ball)

11.15 am - 1.00 pm Interclub training for all divisions.

We have changed how we let you know whether the session is cancelled because of bad weather. We will no longer send an email in the morning. A message will be posted on the Lower Hutt Tennis Club website under the cancellation tab https://clubspark.kiwi/lowerhutttennisclub/Cancellations

If it is raining before the 9 am session, all coaching for the day is cancelled; if it starts raining after that, only the later sessions will be cancelled.

Love Tennis was a big success!

It was wonderful to see so many locals come along and enjoy a day at our club. Everyone had a great time using our facilities and meeting new people.

Congratulations to Alex and Emily for winning our volunteer prize—a free 3-month membership to the pool and gym, valued at $190 each!

A huge thank you to the club committee for organising Love Tennis, and special thanks to our junior and senior members for helping out. Your efforts made it possible for our local residents to experience and enjoy what our club is all about.

We’d also like to welcome our new members! We hope you make the most of the different leagues we offer, and don’t forget our junior Sunday coaching sessions. We’re here to help you get involved and enjoy everything our club offers.

Love Tennis - One week to go

Check out our Red Stage Tuesday group having a fantastic time at their training session! Even though a few of our usual faces were missing today, Lewis and his team keeps the energy high and made sure everyone enjoyed their tennis, rain or shine. The kids showed real enthusiasm by turning up despite the grey clouds and a few showers!

Red Stage (ages 5-7) runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30–4:15pm. We use 25% compression tennis balls and modified court sizes, making it perfect for our younger players to learn and have fun.

Kia ora club members,

Now that the days are getting lighter and hopefully warmer, we thought it might be a good time to update you on what tennis is coming up at the club.

A reminder that tennis training starts this week (21 July) for the term.

LOVE TENNIS
The Love Tennis Open Day has been scheduled for Sunday 13 September. More details to come later.

JUNIOR COACHING
This will restart again on 20 September. If you are unsure of what session your child should go to this year, please let us know and we can confirm it with Lewis.

INTERCLUB FOR JUNIORS
Junior interclub starts in mid-October. This is played on Saturday mornings at either 8.00 am or 10.30 am. Each child is placed in a team of 5 and plays one game of singles and one game of doubles each week. Four players are required each week, so there is the option of a stand-down each week or two of the players share a doubles and singles game each. The games can be at either our club or one of the other clubs in the Hutt Valley. Players need to be able to score, serve, and rally a few shots. If you think your child is ready for this, please let us know.

PROGRESS TENNIS MIDWEEK COACHING
There are some spots available for after-school coaching on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons:

Red Ball (ages 5-7): Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-4:15pm

25% compression tennis balls and modified court sizes for the younger players.
Orange Ball (ages 7-9): Tuesday and Thursday 4:15-5:15pm

50% compression tennis balls and larger modified court sizes.
Green Ball (ages 9-12): 5:15-6:15pm

75% compression tennis balls and a full-sized tennis court.
Development Squad 6:15-7:30pm

Aimed at interclub or tournament level players.
Matchplay-based training with fitness elements and tactical development.

If you go to one session a week, the cost is $120 for Red Ball, $180 for Orange and Green Ball, $200 for the Development Squad. If you go twice a week, the cost is $200 for Red Ball, $270 for Orange and Green and $300 for the Development Squad.

Hi Everyone

Thank you for your support throughout Term 2. We’ve had a mix of weather, with some cancelled
sessions and some sunny days. We appreciate everyone checking the website for updates and thank
you for your patience.

Term Coaching
Term 2 coaching ends on Tuesday, 30 June (for Tuesday sessions) and Thursday, 11 June (for
Thursday sessions).

Coaching will restart on Tuesday, 21 July (for Tuesday sessions) and Thursday, 23 July (for Thursday
sessions).

If Lewis thinks your child should move up to the next group of coaching he will get in touch with you
to let you know. If your child is unable to do the later time please talk to him about it.

Rebooking:

All Term 2 bookings will automatically continue into the next term.

If you need to change or cancel your booking, please let us know as soon as you can.
Invoicing

Invoices for Term 1 have been sent out now. If you haven’t received one please let Jackie know at
[email protected] Term 2 invoices are in the process of being sent out.

Once again, we have had a fantastic junior coaching session. A big thank you to Lewis and our coaching assistants – Jamie, Eva and Jared – for their enthusiasm every Sunday. We would also like to thank the parents for their ongoing support and for the great turnout at the prizegiving.

The junior prizegiving was held on 29th March. We combined the sessions together with the two younger groups starting, the prizegiving in the middle followed by the food, and the older groups at the end of the morning.

Congratulations to the Hutt Valley Senior Representative Team who were runners-up in the recent Hexangular Tournament held at the Renouf Centre.

The regions participating in this were Wellington, Wairarapa, Manawatu, Kapi-Mana, and Wanganui/Taranaki. Players from Lower Hutt were Emily Dine (captain), Rebecca Clarke, Claire Brownlie, Eva O'Connor, Julie Scott, Leonie Campbell, Jamie Cameron and Jared Wu.
