🏸 WE’RE HIRING – DEVELOPMENT OFFICER! 🏸

Badminton Hutt Valley is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Development Officer to join our team for 25 hours per week.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about sport, enjoys working with young people and wants to help grow badminton throughout the Hutt Valley.

The role has a strong focus on junior development and includes promoting and delivering our ShuttleTime programme in primary and intermediate schools, supporting junior programmes, after-school competitions and events, building relationships with schools, clubs and community organisations, and helping identify funding opportunities.

We’re looking for someone with great communication and organisational skills, experience working in youth sport, and the ability to build strong relationships and work as part of a team.

🏸 NEW ZEALAND SECONDARY SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS 🏸

It’s hard to believe that this time last week was the final day of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua!

We were incredibly proud to have so many of our Junior Hutt Valley representatives competing for their schools, with some fantastic badminton, amazing matches and great results across the week! 💪🏸

🏸 College Sport Wellington Senior Badminton Champs 🏸

College Sport Wellington held their Senior Badminton Champs today, and it was fantastic to see Hutt Valley players taking out both the GOLD and SILVER spots in the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles! 🙌

A huge congratulations to Jovan Joby, who took out the Boys’ Singles title after facing younger brother Jesse Joby in the final! What an awesome achievement for the Joby brothers!

And congratulations to Adreeta Acharyya, who claimed the Girls’ Singles title after a great final against fellow Hutt Valley player Tram Vo!

🏸 WE’RE HIRING – CASUAL SHUTTLE TIME OFFICER! 🏸

Do you enjoy working with kids and sharing the love of badminton? We want to hear from you!

Badminton Hutt Valley is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Casual Shuttle Time Officer to join our team.

This role involves helping deliver our Shuttle Time programmes to children in schools and at our badminton hall. We’re looking for someone who:

🏸 Enjoys working with children and young people
🏸 Is friendly, energetic and confident
🏸 Has great communication skills
🏸 Is reliable and able to work as part of a team
🏸 Has an interest in badminton, sport or coaching
🏸 Is available to work during school terms and school holidays

Badminton or coaching experience is a bonus, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important!

A huge thank you to Pub Charity Limited and Pelorus Trust for your incredible generosity and support of our Badminton Hutt Valley Junior Representative Team at the 2026 New Zealand Junior Team Championships.

Your funding helped make it possible for our young athletes to attend this fantastic event, where they not only represented Hutt Valley with pride but also created lifelong memories, built friendships, and gained invaluable experience on the national stage.

With a team of 48 players, supported by 12 dedicated coaches and managers, our juniors displayed outstanding determination, teamwork, and passion throughout the tournament. We couldn't be prouder of everything they achieved—both on and off the court.

Community support like yours plays a vital role in helping our young players chase their goals and continue to grow in the sport they love.

🏸 What a week it was at the New Zealand Junior Teams Championships! 🏸

It's hard to believe that this time last week we were at the New Zealand Junior Teams Championships (NZJTC) with an incredible group of 48 players and 12 coaches and managers proudly representing Badminton Hutt Valley.

We sent away 6 teams, including 2 teams made up entirely of brand-new Hutt Valley representatives! Watching these players pull on the Hutt Valley colours for the first time at Nationals was something really special.

We couldn't be prouder of our players. Whether they were experienced representatives or competing at their very first NZJTC, they gave everything on court.

One of the best parts of the week was hearing the constant cheering, encouragement, laughter and some of the loudest support in the stadium. The way our players backed each other, celebrated successes and lifted one another after tough matches truly showed what being part of the Hutt Valley family is all about. 💚💛🖤
