The big caveat here is that sometimes you CAN’T do much about the situation and the way through is actually by reframing and getting on board with the idea that it’s not ideal but it’s going to need to work.

Regardless, what I want you take from this post is that if and when your mojo does go awol, that is NOT a powerless situation and you absolutely can make your way back to loving it.

Song choice simply because I heard it on the radio today and thought ‘banger’

I started as a PT at Les Mills straight out of Uni and remember being told the stat was something like 80+% of people didn’t stick it out past 2 years. I made sure I played my part and went back to Uni 18 months later 🫡

Anyway that’s the context that explains why now, when I’m still doing exactly the thing I set out to do when I quit safe* employment 2 years ago, I am most proud of just BEING HERE.

Staying power- huge contributor to success and requires zero special talent or skill. Highly recommend.

*in actual fact I might have been made redundant a few months later but that doesn’t sound as impressive as choosing discomfort to pursue big goals and tbf I didn’t know at the time

What’s it like coaching internationally?

1. It’s both exactly like every comp you’ve ever been to and nothing like any comp you’ve ever been to.

2. You will say ‘oh wow it’s 5pm already’ every day

3. Something unexpected will happen often enough that you do indeed come to expect the unexpected

My 6th opportunity coaching internationally, back at the same place I had my first in 2023.

My first time suffering with all the things you really hope you won’t while traveling 💩

Been a big few weeks 🙈

Starting this week in Auckland at a Te Hāpaitanga alumni event and get fed this gem 5 minutes after I walk in the door.

No lie I love the deep stuff (and a quote), and it’s a real treat to come back into this environment to both connect with other women in high performance sport, and be challenged on my thinking and beliefs. And I appreciate that sounds intense but where does progress often come from?… From stopping to actually question ‘where might I be wrong here?’

Uncomfortable? 100%. But if getting squirmy means I get better at what I do then sign me up.

Shall get we get science-y with it? Go on then.

Effort alone isn’t enough, it needs to be purposeful. And by that, I’m referring to the S.A.I.D. principle which is just an acronym for ‘specific adaptations to imposed demands’.

What I think is common
a) underestimating how hard it’s going to be to get to whatever numbers you’re aiming for
b) overestimating the benefit of training that was really difficult to do but not particularly specific to your goals

Full disclosure that was the first time I’d taken creatine in over a week 😬
