Last weekend i packed my suitcases for another lash at a solo cook down in christchurch

It was a full on weekend, thankfully the weather gods played nice this time and southland really turned on an amazing show!

2 days of competing, 8 seperate hand-ins and heard our name called enough to make every moment worth it!

Overall I placed 4th behind Smokesman Competition Bbq Team in 3rd, in second and BEERS for first. Super stoked with that in a well
Established field of cooks!

NZ Barbecue Alliance saturday results

Chicken 🍗 13th. Sorry , chickens still yours 😅

Ribs 🍖Perfect 300, 2nd place 🥈 - the south love our ribs, thats 2x 300's in the south this year!

Pork 🐖 7th - perfect apperance, perfect texture, but nailed on taste with the same flavor profile as the ribs 😅

Brisket 🐄 tied in 6th with Smokey Fish Bar-Bee-Q

Steak Cookoff Association - NZ sunday results:
Steak a 🥩 8th, happy with this being the second competition steak of the year!

Steak b 🥩 DAL - there it is peeps, my ellesmere curse poking its head back again 🤣

Anything with blackcurrant🫐 13th

What a day of competition BBQ at Smoke at the Lake!

A massive congratulations to BEERS Championship BBQ, taking out Grand Champion with an outstanding 1,178 points! 🏆🇳🇿

The BEERS crew have only recently returned home after representing New Zealand at the 37th Annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, Tennessee — and they’ve wasted no time getting straight back to business on home soil!

Congratulations also to Dusty Que, making the trip across the Tasman from Australia and taking home Reserve Grand Champion with 1,157 points. 🇦🇺🥈 A fantastic result against a strong New Zealand field — thanks for coming over and cooking with us!

There were some seriously impressive boxes handed in today, including THREE perfect 300s! 💯💯💯🔥

🐖 Pork Ribs
🥇 Social Smokers — 300
🥈 Carbon Addiction — 300

🐄 Brisket
🥇 BEERS Championship BBQ — 300

Social Smokers took the ribs win on countback, but both teams delivered a perfect scoring box — an incredible achievement. BEERS then added another perfect score to the day with their 300-point brisket.

A huge thank you to Scott and the entire team behind Smoke at the Lake for putting together another fantastic event. These competitions don't happen without a massive amount of work behind the scenes, and we appreciate everything that goes into giving our teams a place to cook, compete and catch up.

Congratulations to all 18 teams who fired up the pits today, and to everyone who heard their name called at prizegiving. 👏🔥
