Patricia Rowley Dance Studio

Patricia Rowley Dance Studio Dance classes available to both boys and girls from preschool upwards! Please come and see for yourself!

Theatrical Dance North Shore takes pride in giving students a strong understanding of the different dance styles, the theory and the positive effect on general strength, health, fitness and coordination. Our teachers ensure technique to promote healthy muscle and bone development through children’s growing years, and the syllabus taught was developed especially with these considerations. Our princ

ipal teachers focus on syllabus through terms one to three, with examinations in September. Through term four children use their syllabus knowledge to learn dances to be performed in the two end of year concerts in December. Many of older students began dancing at Theatrical Dance North Shore at very young ages, and continue to dance with us after more than 15 years commitment.

✨DANCER OF THE WEEK✨

Shendi has been dancing for an incredible 22 years! Her dance journey began with classical training, studying ballet until the age of 14 before joining Patricia Rowley at an intermediate level. Looking for both strong technical training and a supportive dance community, she quickly found both and a second home at the studio.

Ballet and lyrical have always been Shendi’s favourite styles, but since joining the studio, her training and skill in other areas has expanded. She credits the studio and the dancers around her for helping keep her optimistic and grounded, always encouraging her to approach life with a positive outlook.

Outside of the studio, Shendi studied Civil Engineering, with her career spanning transport engineering, strategic change, and more recently procurement - all within the transport sector. Dance has remained a constant throughout every stage of her life, providing balance alongside her career while continuing to challenge, inspire, and connect her with an amazing community. 🪩

✨DANCER OF THE WEEK✨
This week we have .annabel 🤩

Yasmin has been dancing at Patricia Rowley since she was 5 years old, with 2026 marking an incredible 25 years at the studio. She is currently one of the longest-standing dancers at the studio!

Growing up at the studio alongside her sister has made her dance journey that much more meaningful. From helping her with hair and makeup when they were younger, to now dancing together as senior performance students, it’s something Yasmin will always be grateful for.

Some of her favourite memories are the little moments before shows - doing hair and makeup, the excitement backstage, last-minute costume fixes, and the feeling just before stepping on stage. She and her sister also love rewatching old dance show DVDs and reminiscing on the different routines, costumes, and eras over the years, bringing back so much nostalgia.

The studio has also given Yasmin lifelong friendships. Travelling together for performances, spending countless hours backstage, and sharing so many laughs along the way have created memories she’ll always treasure.

Outside of dance, Yasmin works as a Senior Environmental Health Officer at Auckland Council, helping protect the community through inspections and investigations across a range of businesses and environments. While studying for her degree, dance became an important outlet away from the pressures of assignments, exams, and university life. Maintaining a healthy work/life balance has always been important to her, and dance continues to play a big part in that today. 🤍

✨DANCER OF THE WEEK✨
This week it’s and today just so happens to also be her birthday! 🎂 Happy birthday Piyara! 🤩

Piyara started dancing at Patricia Rowley Dance Studio at just 4 years old, with 2026 marking her 24th year at the studio and her 4th year teaching!

Through her many years at the studio, she developed a strong sense of dedication, discipline, and resilience. Performing from a young age also helped build the confidence she carries with her today, both on and off the stage.

Now working as a pharmacist and Brand Manager at Chemist Warehouse, Piyara regularly features in TV commercials, the radio, and print as the company’s Resident Pharmacist. She credits dance and the studio for teaching her the importance of hard work, professionalism, and always giving 100% - qualities that continue to play a huge role in her career.

Alongside her career, teaching at the studio has become another rewarding part of her dance journey, allowing her to pass on her passion and inspire the next generation of performers. 💃

✨ DANCER OF THE WEEK, this week is ✨

Jamie’s danced with Patricia Rowley just shy of 20 years, starting at just 6 years old! Although no longer dancing full time, she still remains heavily involved with the studio through social media, show support, and the occasional performance.

Tap was always Jamie’s favourite style, as she loved the ability to create rhythms and beats with her feet. As she got older, she also found a passion for musical theatre, and a talent at bringing different characters to life on stage. Through dance, she learned discipline, hard work, and determination - values that have shaped who she is today. She also formed many lifelong friendships and considers the studio to be a second family. Some of her favourite memories include becoming “Miss Jamie”, watching her students accomplish their goals, and performing to welcome Santa to the Glenfield Mall.

Outside of the studio, Jamie works full time as an early childhood teacher. She finds that her role brings out her inner child, dancing alongside the children - something she loves as it allows her to share her passion for dance with the younger generations. Alongside teaching, she also runs the studio’s social media, keeping her connected and involved with the dance family she grew up with. ✨

This weeks ✨DANCER OF THE WEEK✨ is .agnew_

Caitlin has been part of the studio since she was born, coming along to watch her big sister Yasmin and started dancing with us at 4 years old - that’s 19 years of dancing! Although, according to her mum, she was dancing before she could even walk. 💃

Jazz has always been Caitlin’s favourite style because it allows her to dance as big and energetically as possible. One of the most special things the studio has given her is the lifelong friendships she has made. Some of her closest friends have come from dancing, and she has known them for almost two decades. The support from fellow studio members, including her older sister and dance teachers, has shaped a huge part of who she is today.

Caitlin is now a physiotherapist, and her career choice was heavily influenced by dance. Movement has always been an important part of her life, and she loves helping others move confidently and without pain. She believes dance is a great way to build strength, improve mobility, and support injury prevention and longevity.

✨DANCER OF THE WEEK✨

We are starting a new series on here highlighting some of our most senior dancers and their decades of dedication to our dance studio. First up is Ella!

Ella started ballet at 3 years old, and has been dancing with Patricia Rowley coming up on two decades!

Through her time at the studio, she’s found a love for the more graceful styles - lyrical, ballet, and contemporary. Not only that, but a strong sense of community! Forming close, lifelong friendships with many of the dancers she grew up with. Some of her favourite memories came from our Disneyland trip, where the team travelled and performed together in LA.

Outside of the studio she works in ecommerce, with the confidence, creativity, and discipline she developed through dance playing a huge role in her career. She’s always loved show preparation and costuming, influencing her decision to work in the fashion industry. Dance has always been a core part of her life, helping shape who she is today. 🩰🤍
