Match Report | Conn Rangers 1-5 Glenhest Rovers

History made.

Glenhest Rovers booked their place in the Benson Cup Final this morning with an impressive 5-1 victory over Conn Rangers, securing the club’s first ever top division cup final appearance.

The opening 10 minutes saw both sides create chances, but neither goalkeeper was seriously tested. On 15 minutes, Glenhest were awarded a penalty and Levi Barrett made no mistake from the spot, calmly dispatching the ball to give Rovers the lead.

Conn Rangers responded well and found an equaliser, but Glenhest regained control on the half-hour mark when Eoghan Wright found the net to restore the advantage and send The Hest into the break with a 2-1 lead.

The second half belonged to Glenhest. A dominant display saw Paddy Mulchrone extend the lead before Connor McCarthy struck twice to put the result beyond doubt and cap off a memorable morning for the club.

The final whistle confirmed a 5-1 victory and a place in the Benson Cup Final, where Glenhest will face Castlebar Celtic in July.

This is a fantastic achievement for the players, management and everyone who has put countless hours into the club over the years. Enjoy this moment. It is thoroughly deserved.

Roll on the final.

A huge day awaits for Glenhest Rovers tomorrow as both our men’s teams are in cup semi-final action.

Our A team travel to Mount Falcon to take on Conn Rangers in the Benson Cup Semi Final, while our B team make the trip to The Green to face Ballinrobe Town B in the Semi Final of the McDonnell Cup.

Conn Rangers v Glenhest Rovers A

🗓 Sunday, May 31st
⏰ 11:00am
📍 Mount Falcon

Ballinrobe Town B v Glenhest Rovers B

🗓 Sunday, May 31st
⏰ 11:00am

Disappointingly, both games kick off at 11am, meaning supporters won’t be able to attend both fixtures. We encourage everyone to get behind one of the teams if possible, with two massive games and places in the finals on the line.

Best of luck to all players and management.

The main man deserves every bit of it, he'll be watching on tonight I'm sure ❤️❤️❤️

In March we lost our dad, Declan, the biggest Arsenal fan you could ever meet. His whole life, through every season, every match, every heartbreak and every victory, Arsenal were his team. His love for this club was unshakeable.
When we received this beautiful letter from Mikel Arteta and everyone at Arsenal Football Club, we were completely overwhelmed. To know that the club he gave his heart to took the time to think of him and reach out to our family, it means everything.
Today Arsenal are playing, and we know he'll be watching. He never missed a match. We'll be watching for him, thinking of him, and carrying him with us every step of the way.
It's been 22 years since Arsenal last won the Premier league title...Dad waited and believed every single season. A happy man in Heaven, he surely is.
We will never stop missing you. We will never stop remembering you. And every time Arsenal play, you'll be right there with us.
Rest easy, Dad. Forever a Gunner. 🔴⚪

Our Men’s A team travelled to Claremorris on Saturday evening and showed great character to come from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw. Goals from Connor McCarthy and Cathal Chambers brought Glenhest back into the game, and the lads pushed hard for a winner but couldn’t quite find the breakthrough.

On Sunday morning, our Men’s B team faced league leaders Ballinrobe Town B on The Strand. In a hugely competitive first half, Glenhest went in 1-0 down at the break. The game opened up in the second half and Ballinrobe added a second before Rovers responded through Fionn Reilly, who headed home after excellent work down the wing from Matthew Horan. The game eventually finished 3-1, but there were plenty of positives for Glenhest to take as the sides prepare to meet again next weekend.

Well done to all players and management across the weekend 👏
