Cycling Ireland National Masters Weekend was hugely successful for the club. Robert Coakley kicked off the weekend in Nenagh in a major way. A powerful effort saw Robert take a deserved victory in the m55 TT by the most slender of margins. A gold medal is a fitting end to the season for his hard work and dedication right throughout the year.
To Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford on Sunday for the Road Race..
Robert had enough of the headlines at this stage. Over to Michael Cusack and Michael Brady, who carried on where Rob left off. Pictured below, we see Michael C, fresh from the Gran Fondo in Japan, finish in second in M70. Michael B, in the same frame, sprints to seventh in a highly competitive M60 division. Epic performances from all riders. Well done 👏👏

Lovely gathering in The Mariner on Saturdayevening.. Special congrats to Rafal on winning the Breheny Shield, presented by Stephen, and to Robert on winning the McNally Cup. Many thanks to the McNally family for coming along and marking the event, rounding off a very successful late season race series. Race organisers and volunteers deserve our thanks also👏👏

Abi had a strong five days on a Ras that kicked off with four climb-heavy stages before finishing with the fast stuff on Sunday. Twenty-first overall and fourth Irish rider is an amazing achievement. Well done Abi!

More Covey finish line success from Michael Cusack, all the way from Niseko, Japan. A fifth place finish on an extremely challenging, mountainous course in the M70 at the Gran Fondo World Championships. A truly epic achievement and what a location to show off that lovely Nationals jersey!

You are all invited to Westport Sailing Club's Family Fun Day in support of the Daisy Lodge on the 22nd of August!

From our friends in the sailing club..

We are running the fun day to support local lads Tom Bourke and Bryan Hyland, who are completing the world’s toughest row across the Atlantic to raise funds for the new Daisy Lodge, a therapeutic short break centre for children with cancer and their families.

We will be having a BBQ on the day, and will be running a capsize drill of the Misneach, the rowing boat. We will need lots of junior sailors to help us capsize the boat on the day!

We will also have sailing tasters, kayaking, rib rides and pier jumping on the day, as well as land games for all the family.

The event is running directly after the dinghy regatta, so hopefully we will see lots of you there!

We’re getting ready for our Family Fun Day with Mayo Sailing Club, Rosmoney next Saturday, 22nd August, and there’ll be plenty happening from 12–6pm.

We’ll have Hang Tough, fast rib rides, kayaking, pier jumping, swimming races and a BBQ, plus Tom and Bryan will be there chatting about the Atlantic row and why they’re doing it.

Bring the family, come down for a few hours and get involved, it’s all in support of Daisy Voyage and Cancer Fund for Children.

Irish Track Cycling Championships!

Niall is officially a New National Champion, taking home the GOLD medal in the Senior 1km Time Trial with an absolute flyer of a time: 1 minute and 9 seconds!
But the success didn't stop there! Niall teamed up with fellow Westport connection Luca Holmes (whose dad is a proud Westport man) to put on a brilliant display and sprint to a fantastic SILVER medal in the Madison race!

Hats off to both lads—phenomenal riding and fantastic to see Westport colours shining bright on the national stage! 🚴‍♂️💨
