Match Report: Darragh & Ruth 🤵‍♂️👰‍♀️

Tomorrow Darragh & Ruth, are swapping the Sliotar for wedding rings as they tie the knot! 💍

We’re not sure what took longer, getting Ruth to agree to marry Darragh or getting Darragh to agree that a call went against him. 😂

After all the years of training, matches, arguments over calls and travelling the length and breadth of the country for rounders, it’s fair to say they’ve had plenty of practice for married life. 👏

We’d like to wish Darragh & Ruth every happiness for the future. 🥂❤️

Intermediate Women’s Championship – Game 4

Our Intermediate Women brought their season to a close on Sunday. While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, every player who pulled on the black and white jersey can be proud of the effort, commitment and determination they showed. This season was all about learning, developing and gaining valuable championship experience, and there’s plenty to build on.

Final Score: Kilmeena 6(5) – Galway City Rapparees 24(4)

Senior Mixed Championship – Game 6

Our Senior Mixed side also finished their championship campaign against an experienced Erne Eagles team. It was a closely contested game through the opening two innings before Erne Eagles experience helped them pull clear. Our players battled until the final out and showed great character throughout.

Final Score: Kilmeena 3(5) – Erne Eagles 15(5)

A big thank you to Galway City Rapparees and Erne Eagles for two competitive and sporting games. Thanks also to Galway City Rapparees for hosting the fixtures and for their hospitality afterwards.

That brings the curtain down on our 2026 championship season.

It wasn’t the season we had hoped for. Injuries, player availability and constant changes made it difficult to build momentum, but every challenge brought valuable lessons.

Tough seasons build strong clubs.

We’ll take those lessons forward, reset, regroup and come back stronger next season.

Our Intermediate Women take on Galway City Rapparees in their fourth and final championship game.

This team has continued to grow throughout the season, gaining valuable experience with every outing. Sunday is all about going out, expressing yourselves, enjoying the game and finishing the year with smiles on your faces.

Our Senior Mixed side round off their championship campaign against Erne Eagles.

Although the results haven’t quite fallen our way this season, there’s still plenty to play for in terms of pride. One last chance to pull on the jersey, enjoy the day, and finish the season with a performance that reflects the commitment shown all year.

Senior Mixed Championship – Game 5

A tough afternoon for our Senior Mixed team as we travelled to Laois to take on Cuchulainn in Round 5 of the championship.

Kilmeena made a bright start after opting to field first and looked well in the contest during the opening inning. Unfortunately, an injury to one of our players early in the game forced a change to our plans, and from that point Cuchulainn began to take control of the game.

Senior Mixed Championship rounders is a huge step up in standard, but to our players credit, they never stopped battling. They continued to work hard and fought right to the final score despite the difficult circumstances.

A special mention to Ben Golden, who produced an excellent performance at the plate, hitting two impressive home runs during the game.

Final Score: Kilmeena 7(5) – Cuchulainn 33(3)

While this result brings our hopes of reaching the semi-finals to an end, there is still one championship game remaining, and the team will be determined to finish the season on a positive note.

A huge thank you to Cuchulainn for a sporting and competitive game, and we wish them the very best for the rest of the championship.

Finally, we wish our injured player a speedy recovery and hope to see them back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Senior Mixed Championship – Game 5

It’s coming down to the business end of the championship, and with just two games remaining, everything is still to play for.

Our Senior Mixed team travel to face Cuchulainn this Sunday knowing that two strong performances could be enough to secure a place in the All-Ireland semi-finals. The opportunity is there, and the focus is simply on taking care of our own job, one game at a time.

The squad has worked hard throughout the season and will be giving everything to keep our championship hopes alive. Best of luck to all the players and management.

Intermediate Men’s Championship – Game 5

A strong finish to the group stage for our Intermediate Men, making it back-to-back wins with a hard-fought victory over St. Senans.

After a great performance last weekend, the lads backed it up again with another determined display. There was very little between the sides throughout, with both teams producing some outstanding fielding and battling for every score in the blustery conditions. It was a quality contest and a great advertisement for rounders.

Final Score: Kilmeena 23(5) – St. Senans 20(5)

That brings our group campaign to a close… now the calculators are out, the permutations have begun, and our semi-final hopes are in the hands of the rounders gods.

A huge thank you to St. Senan’s for a sporting and competitive game, and best of luck for the rest of the season.

It’s the final group game for our Intermediate Men’s team as they welcome St. Senans to Kilmeena in a crucial championship clash.

Coming into this one on the back of a strong win, the lads will be looking to carry that momentum into their final group game. With an outside chance of reaching the semi-finals still on the line, they’ll be giving everything to keep their championship hopes alive.
