U12 Boys in Action ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ

Our U12 boys were on the road this evening for a visit to our neighbours Kilcummin, where two highly competitive and enjoyable games were played.

The skill, determination and effort shown by all the players was fantastic to see, with both teams contributing to a great evening of football.

A big thank you to Kilcummin for their hospitality and for providing such sporting and competitive contests.

We now take a short break for a few weeks before turning our attention to the East Kerry League. The boys look forward to returning with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the challenges ahead.

๐Ÿ‘ Well done to all the players this evening and thank you to everyone who supported the team.

Johnny Culloty Park Officially Opened

A landmark day in the history of Killarney Legion GAA Club was celebrated recently with the official opening and naming of the club grounds as Johnny Culloty Park.
The occasion marked a fitting tribute to one of the clubโ€™s greatest servants, a man who dedicated his life to Killarney Legion and whose contribution to the club and community will never be forgotten.
Hundreds of people attended the special ceremony, which was filled with pride, appreciation and a strong sense of community spirit. The event was organised under the guidance of Denny Murphy and the chairmanship of John Keane, whose efforts helped make the day such a memorable success.
Special guests included Patrick Oโ€™Sullivan, Chairman of the Kerry County Board; Martin Oโ€™Grady, Mayor of Killarney; Fr. Kieran, who performed the blessing of the grounds; and Jarlath Burns, President of the GAA. Their attendance added great significance to the occasion, and the club was honoured that they took time from their busy schedules to be present.
The official naming of the grounds as Johnny Culloty Park ensures that Johnnyโ€™s remarkable legacy will continue to inspire future generations of players, members and supporters.
Killarney Legion GAA Club would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the event, from those involved in the planning and preparation to the many volunteers who worked tirelessly on the day itself. The success of the occasion was a testament to the dedication and commitment that exists throughout the club.
As the celebrations concluded, there was a shared sense of pride that the club had honoured one of its most cherished figures in such a meaningful and lasting way.
Johnny Culloty Park is now officially open.

๐Ÿ’š๐ŸSuper 10s U17 Division 1 County Finals๐Ÿ๐Ÿค

We travelled back to Currans this evening to compete in the Division 1 Super 10s County Finals alongside Cordal and John Mitchels.

Our first game was against Cordal on the smaller pitch, with games played over 10 minutes per half. Cordal got off to the better start, but the lads responded brilliantly to take a lead into half-time. We still held that advantage with just over a minute remaining before Cordal struck twice on the break with late goals to take the win.

Legion 1-07
Cordal 4-02

Our second game saw us face John Mitchels. Once again, we found ourselves chasing the game early on but battled back well. It was a tightly contested second half throughout. With the sides level in the closing moments, we won a free from distance. Markโ€™s excellent effort into a strong wind just drifted wide at the last second.

Legion 2-04
John Mitchels 1-07

That brought our involvement in the competition to an end.

A big thank you to Cordal and John Mitchels for two sporting and competitive games, to both referees for officiating, and to Currans for hosting the finals. It was a valuable evening of football and another good outing for the lads as preparations continue.

Attention now turns to the Division 1 County League, which gets underway on June 29th.
