Massive evening of football at Johnny Culloty Park tonight.
Action starts with our u8 boys who host Kilcummin on Pitch 2 in Go Games action - now at 6pm.
Our minor lads host Austin Stacks and a win would put them into the County League D1 semi-finals. Throw-in at 6.30pm.
Our U16B lads take on Milltown / Castlemaine in Round 4 of the County league at 7pm.
Our headline act tonight is the Ladies Senior team who host Abbeydorney in the D2 Shield Final - throw in at 8pm.
Let's bring a big Legion support out for our teams!

🏐U16 County League Division 1A – Rd3🏐

💚Killarney Legion 3-19
🤍Glenbeigh Glencar Cromane 0-12

Killarney Legion recorded an impressive victory over Glenbeigh Glencar Cromane in Round 3 of the U16 County League Division 1A at Johnny Culloty Park.

Following a draw with Kilcummin and a win over Austin Stacks in the opening rounds, the Legion boys were determined to maintain their strong start to the campaign and produced an excellent all-round performance.

The hosts started brightly and quickly settled into the game. A well-taken goal and a superb penalty save by Ethan Clarke were key moments in an outstanding first-half display. Legion moved the ball well, worked hard throughout the field, and took their scoring chances to establish a commanding lead.

At the interval, Killarney Legion led by 1-12 to 0-5.

The second half saw Legion maintain their high work rate and continue to apply pressure. The team added some excellent scores and remained in control throughout, eventually running out convincing winners on a scoreline of 3-19 to 0-12.

It was a strong team performance and another positive result as the squad continues to build momentum in the league campaign.

Killarney Legion would like to thank Glenbeigh Glencar Cromane for a sporting and competitive contest, and Brendan Brosnan for officiating the game.

Attention now turns to Round 4 next Thursday evening, when Legion travel to take on Scartaglin.

🏐U12 County Go Games🏐

Our U12 girls travelled to Connolly Park, Tralee, on a lovely summer evening to take on Austin Stacks in the latest round of County Go Games.

Both clubs fielded two teams, and the girls played out two excellent games in a wonderful spirit. There was plenty of skill, determination, and passion on display from both sides, making it an enjoyable evening for all involved.

The improvement shown by the Legion girls since the beginning of the year has been tremendous. Despite many of the panel taking part in Cul Camps during the week, the girls still found the energy to put on a fantastic display and represent the club with great enthusiasm.

A sincere thank you to Austin Stacks for hosting us and for their warm hospitality. We would also like to acknowledge the girls who took on the refereeing duties and did an excellent job throughout the evening.

Well done to all the players, mentors, and supporters who contributed to such a positive occasion.

Next up for the Legion girls is an away game against Kilcummin next week💪💪💚

💚U14 County Championship Shield Final🤍

🏐Castleisland District 4-14
🏐East Kerry 3-13

East Kerry came up just short in the U14 County Championship Shield Final, suffering a narrow four-point defeat to Castleisland District in an entertaining contest at ASP.

Legion were strongly represented throughout the East Kerry squad, with six club players involved in the campaign. Fionn Culloty, Fionn Spellman, Caelan Prendergast, Chris Scannell and Conor Randles all started the final, while Rory Moynihan, who missed the decider due to holidays, had been a regular starter throughout the championship.

East Kerry battled bravely throughout and remained in contention until the closing stages, but Castleisland District proved just too strong on the day, claiming the Shield title on a final scoreline of 4-14 to 3-13.

While the result was disappointing, the East Kerry players can take great pride in their performances and commitment throughout the campaign. Congratulations to all involved, particularly Legion’s representatives, who once again showcased the club with distinction.

Attention now turns back to club action, with preparations beginning for the East Kerry League, which gets underway next week.

💚Minor County League – Division 1B, Round 2

🏐Legion 2-18
🏐Churchill 1-06

Our Minor boys welcomed Churchill to Johnny Culloty Park for Round 2 of the County League on a warm evening that provided ideal conditions for football.

Both sides produced excellent defensive displays in a tightly contested first half, with scores proving difficult to come by. Legion held a slender 0-6 to 0-5 advantage at the break after an evenly matched opening 30 minutes.

The home side took control early in the second half, raising the intensity and moving the ball with pace and precision. Some excellent team play created a number of fine scores, with the highlight being Legion’s first goal, which came from a superb piece of unselfish play. A dominant third quarter saw Legion outscore the visitors by 1-6 to 0-1, putting the game firmly beyond reach.

Legion maintained that momentum throughout the final quarter, adding further scores to seal a deserved 2-18 to 1-06 victory.

Credit to Churchill, who battled to the final whistle and never gave up despite the scoreboard.

Attention now turns to next week’s home fixture against Austin Stacks. A victory there would secure a place in the County League semi-final.

👏 Well done to Conor Moynihan, Marco Mosca, Jayden Hurley and Cian Hegarty, who proudly represented Kerry South against Kerry North at Dr Crokes today.

All four boys put in outstanding performances and did themselves, their families, and their club proud. Keep up the great work, lads! 💚🤍

Heartbreak for our Senior B men as they miss out on promotion to Division 5 by the narrowest of margins after a thrilling contest.

Legion endured a difficult start, falling nine points behind after conceding two early goals. However, the lads responded brilliantly, with a Thomas Moriarty penalty and a Luke Courtney goal helping reduce the deficit to four at the break.
Half-time: Glenflesk B 2-10, Legion B 2-06.

Glenflesk opened the second half strongly, adding a third goal to stretch their advantage. But Legion refused to give in.

A superb two-pointer from Finán Blackwell sparked the comeback before Luke Courtney produced a brilliant solo goal to cut the gap to just three points.

With less than a minute remaining, Legion won a free. Working it short from the 21-yard line, Thomas Moriarty fired home his second goal of the game – and Legion’s fourth – with the final kick, leaving the sides level on the scoreboard at 4-12 to 3-15. Unfortunately, score difference means Glenflesk secure promotion.

A huge thank you to referee Tom Walsh for officiating an excellent game.

While promotion just slipped away, it’s been a hugely positive county league campaign. The team finished with 15 league points and gave senior debuts to six minor players throughout the season – a clear sign of the bright future ahead.

Well done to all the players and management on a fantastic campaign. 🟢⚪️
