🇺🇸 NCAA DEBUT FOR MARIA

Congratulations to KVAC USA scholarship athlete Maria Murnane, who made an impressive NCAA debut for McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Maria was the fourth scorer for the McNeese State Cross Country team, completing the 3km collegiate race in a superb 10 minutes 48 seconds.

Maria joins KVAC teammate Mollie O’Riordan at McNeese State, while KVAC 800m athlete Oisín Lynch is also continuing his athletics and academic journey on scholarship at La Salle University in Philadelphia.

We are extremely proud to see three KVAC athletes embarking on their USA athletics adventures. Congratulations, Maria—a fantastic start! 💚💜

High Jumper David Watson closing out his Track & Field Season with an Irish International cap & 6th place in the Scottish Championships with a leap of 1.83m .
David is carrying on the rich KVAC tradition of top class High Jumpers as our clubs 4th International High Jumper this past 5 years.

🚨 FACILITY CLOSED – STRICTLY NO ENTRY 🚨

The Killarney Valley AC Track and Astro Pitch are currently closed while essential repair and maintenance work is carried out.

Anyone stepping onto the track or pitch could cause serious damage to the freshly laid surfaces. We are therefore asking for everyone’s full cooperation: please do not enter or trespass on any part of the facility until further notice.

This work represents a six-figure investment by the club, funded through the tremendous fundraising efforts of our club volunteers and supporters.

These important works will ensure that the facility continues to support the development and growth of many athletes, teams and members of our community for years to come.

We appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding and cooperation while the work is completed.

🇮🇪 FIRST IRISH VEST FOR DAVID WATSON 🇮🇪

Congratulations to KVAC high jumper David Watson, who has earned his first Irish vest following his selection for the Irish U18 Development Team competing at the Scottish Championships in Aberdeen at the end of August.

Over the past few years, David has made the long journey from Duagh several times each week to work closely with the KVAC coaching team. David’s dedication with High Jump Coaches Alan Delaney & Tim Horgan has continually refined the technical finesse required in high jump.

That dedication and hard work has delivered a fantastic season, including national medals, Munster representation and a superb personal best of 1.90m.
All now capped off with International Selection.

David now becomes Killarney Valley AC’s fourth international athlete of 2026, while continuing our club’s proud tradition of producing top-class Track & Field Athletes.

A thoroughly deserved opportunity for David and a very proud moment for his family, coaches and everyone at KVAC.

Everyone at Killarney Valley AC would like to wish Maria Murnane the very best of luck as she flies out today to begin an exciting new chapter, taking up her Athletics Scholarship at McNeese State University in Louisiana.

Maria has been a huge part of the KVAC team over the past number of years, proudly wearing the green and purple across Cross Country, Road and Track & Field, and playing her part in our Championship-winning teams across all three disciplines.

Her commitment, versatility and team spirit have made her a hugely valued member of KVAC, and we are incredibly proud to see her earn this opportunity to continue both her athletics and education in the USA.
