And WOW...!!!
Cracking Finals Night for the Paddy Dixon Cup.
After nearly 120 players competing over the last 10 weeks we were down to our Final 16.
The Dixon Family did the draw for games and some cracking boards were drawn out...
Best of 7 in the earlier rounds saw plenty of darts thrown.
On board 1, Jordan McInerney was drawn against Brian Mc Ardle and despite Brian's best efforts, Jordan would go onto win 4-1.
Also on Board 1, Conor Dunn was drawn against James Webb, after finishing his 1st year throwing competitively, on his day James can be a hard opponent to beat but Conor would go through with a 4-1 win.
On board 2, the ever youthful Noel Mc Mahon was drawn against young-gun, Callum Mc Crave.
Noel would use his years of experience to great effect to go through 4-2.
Also on board 2, Conor Mc Ardle would get the better of Dylan Kirk and go into the knockout stages.
On board 3, Darren Ludlow threw well to go through to the knockout stages after beating Jonny Knobloch 4-0.
Also on board 3, Lee Smyth would eventually beat Barney Keenan and set up a draw against his uncle Darren Ludlow in the last 8.
Board 4 would see Daniel Dunn and Gerry Rice both go through with victory's over Cian O'Rourke and Cara O'Shaughnessy.
In the last 8, Conor Dunn was starting to get into his stride and would beat Jordan McInerney 4-0, Conor Mc Ardle would see of Noel Mc Mahon 4-, Lee Smyth was taken the distance by his uncle Darren Ludlow before going through to the semifinals and the last 1/4 final would see Daniel Dunn and Gerry Rice's game also going to the deciding game with Daniel eventually going through...
The semi-final line up saw 3 of the top 4 rankings for finals night still in the competition with Gerry Rice narrowly losing out in the last 8.
Conor Dunn's momentum would eventually see him get past Conor Mc Ardle and Daniel Dunn would get the better of Lee Smyth with Daniel hitting a 147 checkout en route to the final.
The Final was an all Dunn family affair with Conor facing his uncle Daniel.
100+ score were being hit on a regular basis by both players but it would be Conor who would go onto win 6-2 and be the 2026 Paddy Dixon Cup Winner.
Presentation of the Paddy Dixon Cup was made by Mary Dixon & Sheila Meehan.
A presentation was also made to Callum Mc Crave to mark his Big Fish Checkout in the Thomas and Richard Callan Perpetual Shield.
