Our Moore Utd Seniors opened their 26/27 season with a mount watering away trip to Boyle Celtic.

Moore traveled with a lightened squad due to injuries and external commitments but still with loads of experience and youth, they held a strong Boyle Celtic side to long range efforts.

Moore fell behind to a well worked goal from Mick Corrigan on 11mins.

Moore regrouped and pressured Boyle's defence via good work from Sean and Caimin.

On 32mims a long clearance from the Boyle defence, found its in behind the Moore's defence and not dealt with on the first attempt. The ball fell to Conor Calpin, who made no mistake and slotted into the far corner.

HT 2-0.

Moore upped the anti in the second half and with the introduction of Sean Finneran, Moore started to find space and started to create chances.

Moore now getting in behind the Boyle's defence on several occasion with efforts from Caimin, Shane and Sean. With a cross come shot coming back of the crossbar from Caimin, Moore were starting to feel this wasn't going to be their day.
Even in defeat Moore were happy with their efforts on the day and look forward to next weeks league encounter with Castlerea in Falty.

This past Sunday 18 of our U9's Boys made a trip up to Ballaghaderreen, were they played some fine football and even got some words of advice from Mayo Manager Andy Moran.

Featured is former Moore United FC Manager Padraig Moran

Padraig Moran.
The Athlone born striker had a 16 year career in the league from 1993-2009. His first spell was with Sligo Rovers from 1993-2001, where he was part of their 1993/1994 treble winning team (First Division, FAI Cup & First Division Shield). He played with Derry City from 2001-2003 where won an FAI Cup in October 2002. Thereafter he had three separate spells with his hometown club and one with Limerick before he hung his boots in 2009 aged 36. He served as assistant manager and caretaker manager for Athlone Town after his playing career.

Under 11 Girls

Our u11 Europa and Champions girls took on our neighbours Skyvalley over the last two weekends resulting in two brilliant games of football.

First up was our Europa girls who after a brilliant first half found themselves leading at half time with goals from Lua, Orlaith and Isabella. Skyvalley fought back hard and claimed a well deserved draw in the end. Brilliant performance from both teams.

This Friday evening our Champions girls took on Skyvalley and had a well deserved win with goals from Aisling, Katie, Sadie and Lauren. Player of the night was Lauren O’Neill, a new recruit to Moore this year, who is really shaping up to be a future star for the club, along with the rest of what is a super squad of girls.

Thanks again to Skyvalley for travelling up to Falty both evenings for what is always a very enjoyable evening of football when these two meet.
