Royals had an exceptional day at Met Regatta on Sunday, laying down our best senior squad performance at this event in recent years.
On the men’s side, a Champ 4+, Champ 2x, and Club 4- competed. Both of the Championship boats reached the A Final in their respective class, an amazing achievement in itself - followed by the 4+ finishing 2nd in the Champ event and 4th overall, and the 2x finishing 5th after a decisive move in the final stretches of the race. The 4-, in their first race as a combination, gained some valuable experience ahead of the sharp end of the summer. As crew formation concludes and the wind up to Henley Royal begins, these are incredibly encouraging results which promise greater speed to come.
For the women, it was an excellent and enjoyable day which showcased the competitive spirit of the squad overall. Two eights competed, solidifying promising results from Notts City, with the 1st 8+ coming 3rd in the C Final and the 2nd 8+ 2nd in the E Final. With Henley Women’s Regatta in just a few weeks, they now return to the Dee to begin the final grind.
Next up for the senior squad is HWR and Marlow, both on the third weekend in June.
