Huge congratulations to former Vectis RFC player James on completing an absolutely monumental challenge. He has just walked 711 miles all the way from the Isle of Wight to Coburg, Germany!
Over 55 days, 4 countries, and more than 1.5 million steps, James has shown the ultimate grit and determination—true rugby spirit in action.
He’s done it all to raise vital funds for two incredible causes close to many of our hearts:

🧠 Huge Congratulations to Bex & Ben! 💜💙💜

A massive shoutout to our brilliant volunteers, Bex and Ben, who spent their day up at Newbury RFC completing their Looseheadz training!

By completing this course, they are officially equipped to deliver vital mental health training right here at Vectis RFC. This is a massive step forward for our club, significantly boosting our support network and expanding our team of qualified mental health first aiders.

At Vectis, we know that looking after each other off the pitch is just as important as the work we put in on it. Tackle the stigma, start the conversation. 🏉💬

🌟 IT’S NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK! 🌟
Without our incredible army of volunteers, Vectis RFC simply wouldn't exist. From the coaches braving the winter rain to the team managers, first aiders, kitchen crew, and committee members—you are the heartbeat of our club! ❤️🏉

Because we are growing rapidly across our youth and girls' sections, we are always looking for fresh faces to join the team. Whether you can give an hour a week or a few hours a month, we offer regular training opportunities, cover your training costs, and guarantee plenty of support from our friendly volunteer community!

🛡️ Joining the Team: Our Safeguarding Process
The safety and welfare of every young person at Vectis RFC is our absolute top priority. We want their rugby environment to be safe, happy, and supportive. Because of this, all volunteers must complete our official safeguarding and recruitment checks before starting their role.
Please note that due to strict RFU regulations, we cannot accept external DBS checks from other organisations; they must be processed directly through the club.

Here is how to get involved in 4 simple steps:
1 Get the Form: Head to the documents section on our website (vectisrugby.com or download it directly here: https://www.vectisrfc.com/d/documents.html).

2 Fill & Submit: Complete the volunteer form and email it over to Hayley, our Volunteer Coordinator, at ⁠[email protected]⁠.

3 Get Registered & Trained: Ensure you are registered on the Game Management System (GMS) and complete the mandatory online Safeguarding training course.

4 DBS Check: Once your training is logged, Bex, our Safeguarding Lead, will initiate your official rugby DBS check.

Once those checkboxes are ticked, you're officially part of the crew and ready to help shape the future of Island rugby! 🏝️💪

Summer training is officially underway! ☀️🏉

Even though the British weather forgot it was June, our new Year 4 and Year 5 squads brought absolutely massive energy to their first session this evening. The wind didn't stop the handling drills, and the smiles definitely didn't stop sliding.

A huge welcome to all the new faces who joined the Vectis family tonight—including one new player who wrapped up the session by telling us he absolutely loved it! That is exactly what grassroots rugby is all about. 🙌
