Shame isn’t the enemy. It’s a message. Stop performing round it and start listening to what it’s actually telling you 🌳🤍

You get in there first so it doesn’t sting later.

I had my Wigan Business Awards interview this morning. Afterwards I told someone I probably won’t win.

Then I caught myself and asked why I’d said that.

I wasn’t being realistic. I was protecting myself.

The truth is, I think I can win. The other businesses shortlisted are mega, but mine is too.

You do this too. The “I probably won’t get it” or “I’m rubbish at that”. And the age old “This is probably a stir question but..” that slips out before anyone else gets the chance to disappoint or criticise you. It feels like realism. It’s a shield.

Your brain can’t tell the difference between something you genuinely believe and something you keep saying to guard yourself. Say “I probably won’t win” enough times and it becomes the instruction your brain works from. It starts hunting for evidence that proves you right and matching your effort to it 🧠

So be careful what you tell yourself, because you are likely to be believed 🌳🤍

It took me 20 years to say it out loud. You could do it in your first session.

The whole truth of it, out loud, without the softening.

Putting accurate words to something frightening measurably lowers the alarm response. The vague version keeps your threat system running at full volume, because a shape with no edges could be anything. Naming it exactly gives your brain something finite to hold, and finite things are survivable.

A client of mine had a financial situation she'd been carrying alone for a long time, tangled up with how her brain works and with a lot of shame about both. The size of it in her head and the size of it on paper turned out to be different numbers. Owning it was the week everything started moving.

You don't need twenty years for this. You need one conversation and someone across from you who won't blink.

If you're ready for that first conversation, message me and we'll chat 🌳🤍

You answer strangers in seconds. Your best friend has been on read for two weeks.

It’s not that you don’t care. It’s task paralysis, and it runs on the people you love most.

You opened it, felt it all, decide to reply properly later. Later didn’t come.

Now every day makes the reply bigger. A quick how are you needs a paragraph of apology attached. So you skip it again.

And now rejection sensitivity rears up. Every unanswered day reads as proof you’ve let her down.

Send the message. Just two lines, no apology for the gap. The perfect one isn’t coming and she’d be happier with the ordinary one than you think 🌳🤍

You recognise this one, right? Let me tell you why…

Your brain filters towards whatever target you give it. With no target, an hour spent on something painful is an hour of practising the pain, and the circuit you use is the circuit you get better at. That’s how you can discuss the same situation for years and get up from the last conversation in exactly the same place you were after the first ♻️

So every session starts with me asking what you want from the next hour. Not what happened, not where it started. What you want by the end of it 🎯

The honest answer is sometimes “I don’t know, I just know I can’t carry this any more.” That’s a target. It’s enough to aim at. Working out what you actually want is usually the first ten minutes, and it’s already the work.

Once your brain knows what it’s looking for, everything you say in the hour after that gets pointed somewhere.

So before you scroll on think about the next hour of your day. What do you want from it?

Why are we determined to make life so bloody hard?!
If you’ve been peer pressured into massive goals that feel years away, you’re my kinda woman…let’s chat 🌳🤍

You did the thing. It was dealt with. There was a process, it ran its course, and at some point it was over and you were told you could get on with your life.

Nobody mentions that the part where you get on with your life is the longest bit.

You’ll be somewhere ordinary, a BBQ or a work night out, and it will come up in conversation as a topic. Nobody in that garden is talking about you but everybody in that garden is describing you. You will nod along, then go home and be no use for the rest of the evening.

You have been reduced to one word by people who have never met you, and the difficulty is that after enough years you have started using that word about yourself, in situations that have nothing to do with it like when you don’t apply for the job or when someone is kind to you and you can’t take it.

That is the actual sentence. It doesn’t get spent, and there’s no form for it.

I won’t tell you it stops mattering but I will tell you that living the rest of your life managing who knows costs more than the thing itself ever did, and that there are people who will hear it and stay.

Fewer than you’d like but more than you think 🌳🤍

I’d love it if you could help me for a minute 🌳

Next year I’m taking my talks and workshops all over the country, online too. But I only know the events I know (if you know what I mean!)

You guys know the sort of thing I talk about. Shame, guilt, hiding, judgement and what happens in your brain after you get something wrong. Coming Out of Hiding is a flexible workshop, and I want it in front of as many women as I can get it to. So the question is really just where are the women who need to hear it?

If you have been somewhere brilliant, or you follow an event, retreat or festival that runs every year, or your mate organises one, send it over to me đź’Ś

For context, I have done Womanifest - Empowerment & Wellbeing Festival Cheshire, several local Wellbeing Festivals, .live events, Rebuild With Hope . I’m doing one of Nikki Antonaccio- Trauma-Informed Women’s Health Coach Winter Wellbeing sessions later this year and Mind Circles in 2027. I’m also attending The UK’s biggest menopause and women’s health event ✨ and F**k Up Nights Manchester soon so if you’re there too let me know 👋🏼

I am after events where women come along for the day to think about themselves. From wellbeing festivals, book club events and retreat days to women’s conferences and events for specific issues such as menopause. Also corporate events aimed at women in the workplace. that sort of thing. On the stage or running a workshop, and I will drive pretty much anywhere 🚗

Comment, tag, or DM if you would rather. Thank youuuuuuu 🌳🤍

You unclenched your jaw at the second one didn’t you?

I used to think everyone felt like this. Now I know better.

None of it is a personality. It’s the cost of keeping something hidden, and the bill has been coming out of your evenings and your jaw and every opportunity you talked yourself out of.

You are not the only one. You never were.

DMs are open if you want to say something without saying it anywhere public.
